3rd Person
Brock and Mark had been wandering the halls, keeping watch for Mr. Wilson, and helping the kids who needed it. Now, it was their turn to be the first people in a room.
Behind the basement door was another large room. There was a door in front of them and then another wall lined with bookshelves.
"It's gotta be behind the door," Jon whispered.
"Mark and I can check it out first," Brock offered.
The others nodded and stayed close behind as the duo crept closer to the door.
Slowly, the door creaked open as Brock pushed on it.
Mark pushed all the kids back when he saw the dogs running forward. Brock was shoved to the ground by seven dogs.
"BROCK!" Ryan shouted.
But Brock wasn't mauled to death like the others expected. Instead, he was laughing. The dogs were licking and playing with Brock.
"I keep forgetting the dude is a Disney princess," whispered John.
Brock sat up and looked at the dogs. They were all huge dogs, and most of them had scars like they were fighting dogs.
"Is that a chihuahua?" Asked Craig.
Sure enough, there was a little chihuahua, shaking just in front of Brock. It was missing an eye and was easily the most scarred dog in the group.
"Wait, that one is missing a leg!" Jaren pointed out.
A husky limped over to Brock, it's back leg completely gone.
"Oh, my god," Brock said. "I..."

Brock looked sad. "I'd take them with me but I just don't have the room. I mean... I've already got my dogs at home."
"We can still get them out of this house," Mark said. "Just get them out real quick and then meet us so we can get back to looking for Evan."
Brock ran out and left the dogs with Lauren, who loved her just as much as Brock already. Brock then ran back inside the house and started looking around for the way into the basement.
In the dog room was lines and lines of automatic feeders, dog beds shoved up against one wall, and there were huge scratch marks and bite marks along the bottoms of the walls.
"Hey, guys, what's this?" Asked Scotty, pulling a piece of paper out from underneath a dog bed.
The boys all crowded around him until they saw a list of books.
"Hey, those are the books on the bookshelf," John said.
"Oh yeah," David agreed. "Hey... why's t'is one a different color?"
David pointed to a title on the page. "The Face on the Milk Carton" by Caroline B. Cooney. It was written in blue ink, unlike the rest being written in black or red.
"I... don't know," Tyler said. "Let's go and find it on the shelf."
The kids all ran out of the room and started to look along the bookshelves.
"Right here!" Jaren exclaimed.
The boy pulled on the book and the whole bookshelf came off the wall - a secret door.
"Oh, my God," Brian said.
"We're coming, Evan!" Jon shouted.
The boys all rushed down the stairs into the basement and stopped when they got to the bottom.
In front of the boys was the very last thing they needed.
A maze.
