Chapter 16

I have to admit, my new so called 'routine ' felt a lot like home. I woke up to an alarm blaring in my ears at the crack of dawn so I could get up to prepare their breakfast . And then followed a day full of tasks that reminded me too much of the pit.

This wasn't something I particularly enjoyed and envisioned for myself but then again , neither was being held hostage and made a servant. I placed the fruit into the bowl before they walked in , Linus wrapping his arms around me. I liked it a lot less now being in this situation.

"Looks delicious . Thanks hun." He said placing a kiss to my cheek as a cold shiver ran down my spine. I was revolted. Felt used and violated.

"Aren't you going to eat with us ?" Seth said , motioning to the chair.

"I'm not sure if I'm allowed or just your servant. " I said blandly while I watched them .

"Servant ? Is that what you think you are ? Vera please , you're anything but our servant. Take a seat. " Linus said sounding pleased with himself.

"Than what is this ? Cause it's not a hostage situation, it's not kidnapping, so what do you call this?" I said frustrated, motioning around me.

They shared a look with eachother - almost like communicating without words- while I awkwardly witnessed the whole thing go down.

"Relax . This is purely just our girlfriend taking care of us ."

"Girlfriend !? Excuse me ? I don't remember that ever happening and do I need to remind you that ; I strongly dislike both of you." I said irrated while I watched them both look bored by my outburst.

"Sit down and eat Vera." Linus said, going back to his meal.

"No . I won't stand for this . This is nonsense and I won't allow you to treat me like this. "

"Sit down Vera." Linus repeated himself calmly while taking a bite from his breakfast.

"I don't want to ! Are you deaf !?" I said raising my voice and throwing my apron to the ground.

"Last chance." He voiced again.

"Or what ? What could possibly be worse than what you're already doing to me ?"

"Oh honey you don't want to find out." He said underneath his breath before he motioned something to Seth and Seth stood up , wrapping his arms around me and throwing me over his shoulder.

"What ? No ! Let me go ! I'm sorry okay ! I'll eat! Please , just don't hurt me !" I cried out while kicking against his body though I knew on the inside no one was going to come to my rescue.

"You should've listened." He said right before shutting the door behind him , closing me in place I wouldn't even want to see in my nightmares. It was cold , dirty and had a strong musty smell. I guess I underestimated them... no person should have to be locked up down here. It made me wonder if I were the first person to be thrown in this disgustingly horrid place.

I couldn't sleep a wink - and not just because of how cold the floor was - but each time I would close my eyes , a sound I've become too familiar would drown my tears. Rats. I wouldn't be surprised if their bats hanging above my head either , I guess I should be grateful for not being able to see my surroundings. It would only make me go insane faster...

I woke up to hearing the heavy door creak open as I scurried to my feet in anticipation.

"Had enough yet ?" He said shining a bright , blue light into my eyes .

"Yes ! Please just let me go. I beg of you." I said shielding my eyes from the light.

"You don't have to beg honey. You're free to go. " he said sickeningly sweet making my stomach turn.

"What ?"

"Yeah. Go on up and take a shower. As long as you've learned your lesson , we're all good here." He said opening the door for me. I didn't need a second invitation before I fled out the door.

"Uh-uh , bathroom is that way sweetheart. " Linus said at the end of the hall way - having seen my hesitation to head for the back door instead- while he folded his arms across his chest.

"Right."

"Why are you actually giving me privacy?" I said from the bathroom at Linus sitting on the bed.

"For starters , we're establishing trust. And second of all , you reak. Can't stand the stench. "

" Well then maybe you shouldn't have thrown me in that revolting place." I said , getting into the shower.

"Maybe if you hadn't forced our hand."

"Forced your hand ? For what ? Not wanting to be your little girlfriend?" I said , starting to rinse my body of it's filth.

"That's exactly what." He said while I turned to the side seeing him very close to me.

"What happend to 'establishing trust ' ?" I said shocked, wiping the soap from my eyes.

"I'm just making sure that I'm making myself clear here. Do you understand Vera ?" He said through gritted teeth- making a shiver run down my spine - as I nod my head on instinct. "Perfect. Breakfast's in 10." He said before walking out of the room while I slid down the wall to the floor. I can't believe he just did that. Threatened me like that without an inch of guilt or any sense of humanity. 
I sometimes wonder what type of person brought them up to be such complete and utter monsters. 

I just hope I never find out.
