Everyday we would go practice our songs for our next live performance. At the end of the week we would sit in the stairwell and talk about our week how it had been. They ended up becoming super popular with our fans. They named them the 'One Direction Video Diaries'. We liked it, so we kept it! We would also answer fan questions, we had a lot of fans. We had to have full time security when we went out. The paps were all over us. There wasn't a time where they didn't follow us. But after answering questions we would talk about how we felt about our next performances. We would normally tell them how we felt about our song choice for that performance. We would also tell them how nervous we were about it.

Every performance it felt like we were on top of the world. There was this high after getting off of stage it was crazy. After the first couple of video diaries, Simon had watched them and he called in me and Harry into his office. We were scared, we didn't know what he was going to say. We didn't think we were that obvious, but apparently we were. Simon had told us we need to tone it down because he doesn't need all the fans who bring in his salary to find out that two members of his boyband are number 1 gay, and number 2 together. Almost all of our fans were young girls and we would lose so many incredible fans if even one of us came out, but two would be a train wreck. It would ruin all that Simon had built out of us, everything we've done would be gone. So we chilled off a bit, but it felt like he was on our backs every second. At least in the video diaries we could show a version of ourselves and our relationship without being judged. Simon didn't watch out video diaries very often, but when he did he inspected every single inch of it. He was never worried about what the other boys were saying; it was only me and harry.

We had one last performance, that was the end. We had made it this far and that was all we needed. It would've been nice to win, but we felt like making it this far and getting a second chance was enough. We got each other out of this and we were fine with it. Sadly we came in 3rd place. We were sad, but we were okay. We knew that we were going to stay friends. We had so many fans we didn't want to let down. Simon had pulled all five of us, as we were packing the next day, to come and sit in his office. He had asked all five of us if we wanted to sign a record deal with him and SYCO. We were ecstatic. We didn't know what to say.
