In front of me lay the near dead bitch himself, Madara Uchiha. I smiled as I saw his old, withered form, and my smile only widened when I saw Zetsu materialize next to him. A few feet away lay the Jedo mazu, with large tubes connecting it to the slimy bastard.

I smirked at him and slammed my hands together quickly doing the hand signs and launching 'Wind bullets' at him. This was mostly just to see if he had any real combat skills left, and to see if Zetsu would interfere.

As I had predicted, Madara's eyes widened but he made no move to stop the jutsu, instead choosing, or rather being forced to stay stationary. Zetsu jumped in front and formed some sort of plant-matter shield.

"Who are you!?" Madara cried in an old withered voice. Whether it be a feeble attempt to distract me, or a genuine curiosity, I didn't know. But I wasn't about to launch into some long monologue when the bane of my existence was right in front of me.

I slammed my hands into the ground and launched 'Earth Pillers' at Zetsu. The plant monster was slammed into the roof of the cave, which it simply melded into, and appeared a few feet behind me. I jumped forward and threw a kunai at the Jedo mazu and another at Madara.

Zetsu split into its Black and White forms to protect both, while I charged a Rasen-Shuriken and launched it at the statue. It obliterated Black Zetsu's abdomen and tore through the plant matter, slinging messy clumps of the shit-like stuff in every direction. It slammed in to the statue and shredded through wood like cheese, before coming to a stop with a slight crater in the stone wall.

While all this was happening, I appeared behind Madara and White Zetsu, stabbing upwards through the base of Madaras skull and straight into his brain stem. Black Zetsu's agonizing cries echoed through the cave, as he desperately tried to gather the chips and chunk a of the decimated statue.

"You." It cried with so much rage that I had to pause for a second. With this time it slammed a pillar of plant matter into my chest and crushed me against the stone wall. My breath was knocked out of me at the same time as the stone shattered like glass around me.

It launched itself at me and picked up White Zetsu along the way. I ducked down and rolled towards Madara's corpse and it dove in for another attack.

I yanked the sealing scroll out of my pocket and slammed it onto it's black and white body.

Zetsu twitched and turned, trying to escape the vortex it was being sucked into, but to no avail.

Silence erupted. Dust settled as I slid into a standing position and observed my surroundings.

The shattered, tumbling stones settled to a halt, and the air cleared, plant matter blobs were similarly sucked into the sealing scroll along with Zetsu.

It... was over?

That's was it? But- there was no epic fights. No monologues, no hidden enemies lying in wait. Was this the extent of my entire world's destruction? A plant and an old man, living in a cave, almost completely vulnerable to the world?

I slid down the wall and pulled my knees to my chest. I tucked my head in between and felt tears rush to my eyes.

In hindsight it was rather pathetic.

A week earlier

Minato Namikaze blinked at the sight in front of him.

His three students lay resting against each other.

Just a little while earlier he had finished slaughtering the Iwa shinobi that had been intruding on the Land of Fire's border, and he had heard no news of Kunabi bridge being destroyed, so he had left a dozen Kage bunshins to finish off Iwa and headed towards the -still intact, might he add- bridge. When he had arrived and couldn't sense his students for miles he had assumed the worst and quickly decimated the bridge.

He searched for a while before sensing the pull of one of his hiraishin seals and quickly appeared there, only to find that his hiraishin had been triggered by some sort of trap and his students were peacefully sleeping.

Kakashi had bandages covering his eye, and they all had light scrapes and cuts that signified a fight. So he quickly checked their pulses, before shaking them awake.

"Five more minutes, Baa-chan..." Obito mumbled, as all three of them began returning to their senses.

Kakashi was the first to jump up, quickly looking around before his eye landed on Minato.

"Sensei!" He cried as he stumbled forward. He started to say something but Rin interrupted by hurriedly standing and observing her surroundings, not unlike Kakashi. His last, but certainly not least, student lost his comfortable pillow -Rin- and fell to the ground, before quickly hopping up as well.

"Oh, Minato-Sensei!" He yelled as his eyes first found his teammates and then his Sensei.

Minato just stared at them, a bit dumbly, and Kakashi shifted into report mode seeing the expectant look in Minato's eyes.

"As team leader, I ordered my team to head towards the bridge, but along the way we ran into some Iwa shinobi," he began in a hesitant but formal tone, while the others quickly came to stand beside him and nodded along with his words.

"Yeah! And then those bastards kidnapped Rin! So me and Bakashi went to save her! But..." Obito bumped in, quickly giving his two-cents.

"Mhmm! But Kakashi lost his eye... and Obito got his Sharingan, and then the cave I was being held in started to collapse because of one of their jutsus..." Rin trailed off nervously.

Kakashi nodded at that. "Yes, like Rin said, because I lost my eye, my depth perception was off and I was unable to dodge a falling rock, Obito tried to save me, but then someone else-" Kakashi started again.

"Oh yeah!" Obito interrupted, waving his hands in the air. Kakashi just gave a half-hearted glare, surprising Minato, he usually held no small amount of anger towards Obito.

"Someone who looked like Kushina-neechan appeared and saved me! He was a boy though, but he had her hair, oh, and her eyes!" He smiled widely while making a few odd gestures.

Minato raised an eyebrow at that, "And..?" He prompted gently, as he crossed his arms over his chest and settled into a more comfortable position.

Kakashi jumped back in, "I agree, he looked like he could be Kushina-nee's younger brother or something, maybe he was sixteen or seventeen...? But he saved Obito and knocked us out. I guess he must've bandaged my eye too, but I'm not really sure if he did anything else." He concluded with a hint of embarrassment.

Minato stored this information in his head before scratching his neck and shifting his weight. "So did he say anything at all?" He decided to ask.

All three shook their heads no, before Rin hesitantly began, "Err, he stammered a bit but that was it. I'm not really sure, but he didn't seem hostile and he didn't have a headband, so he could be unaffiliated."

Obito blinked at her before slowly nodding. Kakashi did too, albeit a bit disgruntled for not noticing earlier.

"Alright," Minato started as he thought over this information. "Well we better head back and report this to the hokage, Kushina might know something too." He voices with an air of finality. They all jumped into the trees and headed towards home, unaware of the fate they had avoided.

To be continued.
