"I spy with my little eye, something... brown!" I sing-songed happily, as Jiraiya, Deidara and I walked down the dirt road towards Konohagakure.

Deidara heaved a sigh, "Is it another tree?" He growled angrily as I had done a tree three times already. I frowned, "Well I could say something green or blue, but you always get those!" I cried indignantly. Deidara sighed again, "That's because it's always the grass, leaves or sky," he murmurs again, slouching in boredom as Jiraiya laughed loudly.

"You've gotta admit, the gaki's right," Jiraiya teased as he gave me and indulgent smile.

"I'm so bored, un," Deidara groaned as he shoved his hands into his pockets.  He sped up a bit to match his pace with me.

"Doesn't mean ya' gotta be a buzzkill," I whined as I lightly boxed his shoulder. He snorted, "Itks not my fault all we've seen is shitty trees, un," he complained again, running his hand through is hair.

"Language," I voiced as he rolled his eyes at me and snorted, "Your just as bad, un," he murmured in annoyance.

"Well," the Ero-sennin cut in, "We won't be lookin' at trees much longer," Jiraiya smiled as the forest cleared to show wide open green gates. The kanji for fire painted in big orange letters. The walls seemed to expand for miles, and happy village chatter filtered out. The sun shone down brightly on us and the clear blue sky seemed to be even bluer above the bustling village.

My heart swelled, screaming home! Home! Home!

Ahh, and it was home, alright.

"Don't let your guard down, kit," Kurama rumbled in my head, lazily swishing his tails as he licked his paws, "This may have been your home, and still could be, but right now your a potential enemy of the Leaf, proceed with caution," he warned.

Of course! I replied back mentally, sending him a warm smile.

I could feel him nodding in response, so I jogged a bit to catch up with my new student and old teacher.

Kurama had woken up a few days ago and scared me shitless when he had yawned in my head while I was brushing me teeth. I scolded him, but like usual he didn't bother to apologize, and instead asked for an update on my recent activities. He was pleasantly surprised at my progress. Especially that I had already managed to save Nagato, Yahiko and Konan, and that I had taken out nearly the entire Akatsuki.

"C'mon gaki, we don't have forever," Jiraiya called back as I hurried to catch up, I must've space out.

"Coming, Ero-sennin!" I yelled cheekily as he snorted and smacked me over the head. I couldn't help but snicker at his affronted face.

"Ero-sennin!" He huffed under his breath while shaking his head. Deidara rolled his eyes and we walked up to the guards. I was half-expecting to see Kotetsu and Izumo, but instead two nondescript jounin sat in their place. I almost scoffed, these fools looked like they actually did their jobs.

We quickly checked in, the guards stammered a lot about Jiraiya-sama! And the great toad sannin! Which had me and Deidara laughing our asses off. Jiraiya could only half-heartedly glare at us while we calmed our rambunctious laughter.

Ahh, to be young.

Jiraiya guided us through the bustling crowds, and I couldn't help but think this was the happiest I had been since being put in this timeline. The tall wooden buildings were spotted with sunlight as stands and shops lined the open road. Loud calls of offers and discounts were thrown through the streets.

Shinobi and kunoichi jumped across the rooftops while civilians crowded below. Children played in the streets and the proud hokage monument loomed over the whole village as a good omen, signifying protection.
