Someone had found her, that much she knew because she could hear someone trying to get the door open. The fact that she could feel a steady flow of water across her legs both worried and relieved her. At least she wasn't paralyzed, but she was still trapped and the water was starting to rise into the car.
Elle tried again to push herself off of her left side, to which she was again met with a sharp pain. She had definitely broken something.
Just then she saw a light coming through the passenger window. Lord, she thought, this is it. Your light is decending upon me. But then she heard his voice... not the voice of the Lord, but the voice of the man she loved. Jay had somehow found her. She was going to be okay.
"Jay..." she spoke barely above a whisper as she attempted to reach for him. This time the pain that shot through her radiated through her entire body and everything went black.
