“Nessie, Nessie, help me Nessie. Nessie help me!” The sobs of a small female child fill my dreams. “Nessie, I need your help! Please Nessie. I can't do this alone! Nessie... please...” The girl's voice fades away and I realize I had drifted off to sleep. And the freaky invisible shadow dude didn't come and kill me? Weird.

I bolt straight up. I'm still in the shed. It's still just me as far as I can tell. It's super dark. A wave of panic and fear swamps me and adrenaline explodes in my veins. I jump to my feet and look around, panicked. How do I get out?! There's no doors. None at all... How did I get in here? The hole! I remember the hole that my predecessor probably made when they were getting away from the freaky invisible shadow dude. As far as I knew: they didn't have good luck. I hoped my odds were better than theirs.

I start to hobble around in circles. My toes feel broken on my right foot and the rest of it is more than likely black and blue. A shaft of moonlight escapes in through the hole I had crawled in. I hold my foot out in the patch of bright light and wince. It looks nasty. All my toe-joints are busted. The skin had torn open and all I can see is fresh blood on top of dried blood. The rest of my foot and even my ankle are, as predicted, black and blue and sort of... green.

I yelp when I barely touch the top of my foot. Stupid. I hold my left arm back down in the light—there's dried blood on my wrist. Stupid shadow man.

My fear begins to melt away as I grow angry. Why had this happened?  My brow furrows. What would my family think in the morning? Just how long had it really been? These thoughts race through my head. I'm going home. I make the decision quickly and without second thought.
