The Kims had a pretty large house. One of the many perks of having good jobs. The two boys had the option to have separate rooms, but they quickly shook their heads. Neither of them had ever slept alone and had grown accustomed to being around many other people. It was understandable that they didn't want to change that just yet.
The room was relatively large. Each boy claimed their own side, doing with it what they deemed fit. Jimin was quick to decorate his wall with various drawings he'd done, both from here and at the adoption centre. They ranged from foxes to butterflies, to other kids at the orphanage. He seemed to settle in pretty quickly. Jungkook, on the other hand, was still much more unsure of his surroundings.
Both he and Jimin had been in a few homes before they were adopted by the Kims. While Jimin seemed more optimistic about this couple, Jungkook was still very wary. The five-year-old sat on his bed clutching Bunny as he watched Jimin scribble new pictures for his wall.
All of a sudden, Jimin hopped away from his desk and shoved a piece of paper in Jungkook's face. The younger boy flinched at the sudden action, backing away ever so slightly. "Here!" Jimin said with a bright smile. "I drew you and me! You can put it on your wall!"
Jungkook looked at him, then back at the paper. It was a crude block drawing. But there was no such six-year-old with the skills of Picasso. "W-Why is your hair pink?" He asked as he eyed the patch of pink on, what he assumed to be, Jimin's hair.
Jimin shrugged his shoulders. "I couldn't find yellow and I really like pink!" Jungkook tilted his head. He spotted the yellow crayon on the floor just under Jimin's chair and pointed to it.
Jimin grinned brightly and raced over to his 'lost' utensil. "Thank you! You're the best!" He beamed. "Do you like the picture? I put Bunny in it too!" Jungkook glanced down at the drawing once more. Sure enough, there were two haphazardly coloured pink circles two lines coming out the top. "Th-Thanks..." Was all Jungkook mumbled. He placed the paper down next to him and went back to clutching his plushie. Jimin's smile fell.
"D-Do...Do you not like it? I can do it again!" Jungkook quickly looked back at the blonde who seemed like he was about to cry.
"I like it!" The younger exclaimed. He really didn't want to see Jimin cry. Especially if it was him that made him sad. "I promise!"
Jimin looked at him with big eyes. Almost pleading for assurance. "P-Promise?"
"Promise! Can...Can you help me put it up?"
And just like that, all traces of sadness on Jimin's face disappeared. He nodded eagerly and grabbed the clear tape. Jungkook pointed to where he wanted to hang it and Jimin tapped down all four of its corners.
"Thanks..." Jungkook mumbled once again.
Jimin saw Jungkook crack a tiny smile and it made him beam proudly. He had always been the youngest out of the few houses he'd been in. He was happy he could finally act as an older brother. It was their second day with Jin and Namjoon. Jungkook spent much of their arrival in their bedroom, somewhat ignoring everyone else. That didn't sit well with Jimin. He thought Jungkook was avoiding him. Which he was. Either way, Jimin made it his personal goal to get as close to him as possible.
-----------------
Even when they went shopping, Jungkook refused to let go of Bunny. Seokjin had taken the two kids to Walmart for new clothes and even a few toys. Namjoon was able to take a couple of days off from work, but still had a few calls to make so he couldn't come with. It was disappointing, but Jin understood.
Both children were relatively healthy for their age. Although Jimin was a little small, Seokjin knew that with a proper diet he'd eventually grow to just the right height.
