Who or what inspires and motivates you to write?

Who or what inspires me to write?

What inspires me? I tend to write about the things I observe, or anything at all. A song, a book, a fleeting feeling, a time of wondering about the purposes of life.

Everything inspires me to write. Who inspires me? Everyone. I receive inspiration from everyone I meet, be it a classmate that I'm not familiar with, a villain in your favourite series, a boy who dropped his ice cream cone and cries, and all my fellow readers and friends who have embarked on this journey with me.

What genre do you love to read/write the most and why?

What genre do I love to read?

Aha, it is none other than Fanfiction because I'm a sucker for domestic fluff-induced AUs, and established relationship ship fics. Lmao. I also like Psychological thrillers, and sometimes, Action. I seldom read Romance, but I will diligently read them when I find some destined ones. XD.

What genre do I like writing?

I love short stories, mainly those that focus on dark themes and deep concepts, hence why I wrote Arwol's Dream. I believe that everyone has a part of them that they're struggling to fight with, namely our flaws and insecurities. Writing these helps me to sympathize with the world's hidden tragedies, and make me have a better sense of toleration and empathy.

Can you describe your main character? Maybe elaborate on his/her personality?

Arwol is actually a prince of a fallen kingdom. He is the sole survivor of the war, and he's trying to flee from getting captured as a war slave. I would describe him as innocent, child-like, as seen from how he tries to stay alive "or I'll never see the sunrise again". To him, seeing the sunrise is like seeing hope. Seeing a new morning, a symbol that he's still living and bears witness to the dawn of a new day.

Arwol is also an ambitious person, with willpower and perseverance, as narrated in his call to "Rindo", his mentor, and "Kabaneer", his aide and subordinate. Rindo was a wanderer, and he became the inspiration for Arwol to pursue his dream of travelling. Alas, it was a dream that never fully fulfilled itself, but he still gives it his all, in odds of many unfruitful attempts.

And lastly, he is a faithful son. He fails, but he remembers his mother's words, which became the core of the story--- her hope for Arwol to always be pure, retaining his childlike innocence, and most importantly, have faith in life, which he wholeheartedly tries to accomplish despite repeatedly falling into voids of struggle and despair.

What do you believe is your strongest point in writing? What advice would you like to give fellow writers struggling in that category?

What do I believe is my strongest point in writing?I believe it is my ability to conjure up a piece of work from anything, regardless of the subject. I also have a habit of addressing topics that involve themes regarding modern society, which is the main focus of most of my non-fanfiction work. :)

What advice would I like to give fellow writers struggling in that category?

Hmm, I'd say... write. Just write. No one should be judgmental of your work, except you, the creator and weaver of your own lyrical language. Worried the readers won't understand if you write eccentric metaphors? Don't mind. You understand, you know. That is the most important. Your emotions and intentions in that work are understandable only to you--- and that's okay. Write for yourself more. To express your inner thoughts.

What's something you look for in a story?

What's something I look for in a story?I actually seldom read on Wattpad, unless it's books that I really like, for example those in my reading list and library. Hmm, what I look for is the common (eg. Grammar, Plot, Character etc.)

But what I look forward to the most when I read a book is--- its ability to make me read on non-stop, aka Reader Enjoyment. You know the thing when you read, and your eyes move faster than your brain, where you start skimming the next paragraph before going back to your previous one, then you start feeling bored and end up leaving the book aside. Same thing.

If said book does not captivate my soul, then I do not wish to proceed with it, as I fail to fall into the lake of thought and analyze it as I go. This is mainly at stories I read, as for those I write, I tend to favour coating my sentences with bizarre metaphors, conjuring up some unknown monstrosity that's more than what meets the eye. A hidden message, an unspoken meaning.

What is something you have improved in you writing over time?

What is something I have improved in my writing over time?

Well, I've deepened my vocabulary, that's for sure XD. I describe things better and learnt how to separate the length of my sentences. I'm also sympathizing with my story plot, which I find very helpful in writing because it gives me a clear sense of the emotions I want to convey. Doing research is one of the things I've picked up, it's great for when you're writing something that involves culture and arts!

It has been lovely to take your interview! Thank you for your amazing words. Best of luck and keep shining!
