Prolog

Hi everyone! I'm new to writing fanfic and I decided to give it a shot. Just to put it out there, I'm not a writer so please forgive me for all grammatical and vocabulary error. I am a massive shipper of both Snowbarry, Flashfrost and Superflash. As this is a fanfic of Snowbarry, here is some background info on it.

It will be set after Barry comes out of the Speedforce. It will explore the change in the deteriorating dynamic between Barry and Iris and the increasing romantic feelings between Barry and Caitlin/Frost as they spend more time together.

Prologue

6 months was short, but for the fastest man alive, it was an eternity. With the addition of being trapped in the Speedforce, time was endless. Even though the Speedforce said it wasn't going to be a prison, it wasn't said that there won't be any punishment. Being trapped served as a lesson and showed him how his actions have affected others. It forced him to relive different key points in Team Flash's life if he were to be clear-headed and focused on everyone such as his friends and family instead of just Iris. He knew it wasn't a prison but being someone like Barry, he carries this burden and thought of it as his hell. The Speedforce knew how heavy his heart was but it was necessary. Still, even with the lesson, he was a hero, so the Speedforce awarded him views of wonderful and possible futures. Barry smiled, as it slighted sated his heart, but he still carried so much.

During these 6 months or 60 years for Barry, he didn't age. His hair grew longer and developed a Gandalf-like beard, still, he didn't age. The lessons and rewards came hand in hand. For each lesson he had learned, he was rewarded with the glimpse of a few amazing futures. In all of these possible futures, there was always 2 constants. One, he was never with Iris. Iris was always the one he wanted to be but as the months progress, he could see the kind of person he was. Selfish, stubborn, acted on emotions which had cost him so much. Flashpoint to name one. He began to think if Iris was the one for him, the one he wanted. He concluded that Iris was not the one the wanted or even was in love. He let a newspaper decide his fate, thinking it was destiny. He fell for the idea of being with Iris but not with Iris herself. The second constant, well, Barry was not surprised at this. She was always the one there for him since he woke up from his coma. Always the one to lean an ear, a hand, support. She would always be the one to patch him up, both physically, mentally and emotionally. He already had feelings for her ever since he awoke to see such a beautiful face. In time, those feelings grew but he always kept them hidden. When Jay/Zolomon and even Julian, there were hints of jealous Barry felt in himself. But he convinced himself that he was meant to be with Iris. Now, Barry saw how brighter the future was with her, how each decision he made was better with her advice and presence. It broke not just his heart but him when he had chosen to save Iris and neglect her, allowing her to join Savitar. In the Speedforce, he realised was in love with Caitlin Snow and somehow after knowing the future, he too, by extension, was in love with Killer Frost. He broke down, knowing he would never be able to see her warm brown or icy cold eyes, to smell the strawberry auburn or platinum hair, to feel the warmth or cold touch of hers, to hug her immensely, to tell her how he felt and to apologise to both of them for his mistake. He was trapped and there was no escape. Or so it seemed.

Unbeknownst to him, Cisco, Caitlin, Wally and Joe were already planning for his escape. By using a quark sphere programmed with his DNA and the Speedforce bazooka, they were hoping it would trick the Speedforce that he was still there. This, of course, wouldn't have worked normally, but the Speedforce knew that he was not meant to be trapped forever, just enough for him to learn his lesson. The multiverse along with the Speedforce had other plans for him. He was always meant to be a hero, the fastest man alive. Not just the fastest man, the fastest speedster in all the multiverse. He was meant to be the Fastest of them all.
