In 30 minutes you can clean your house, run an errand in town, finish an assignment, or you can even watch the sun set. So many truths come out during a sunset, truths that one may be hiding from either themselves or others around. The colors painted in the sky bleed together, mixtures of pink and orange, a signal that the day has passed.
There's always been something comforting about watching something so beautiful leave the world in just a few moments. Perhaps it's the realization that nothing good can stay forever, for all of us will soon be captured in the darkness of night. In those few moments, where the sun lingers on the horizon, it feels as if the sun can see right through your soul, as if it can read your every thought, every mistake you've ever made.
Someone once told me that certain actions causes a specific chain of events to follow suit. The sun leaves the sky each day, making room for the moon to appear in its place. If the sun did not set one day, would the moon still rise, or would it continue to wait until the sun lowers? It's practically impossible to determine the outcome until the chain of events is already triggered. You don't realize how the words coming out of your mouth can affect someone until it's already said. You think it's harmless, just a joke, but it could be that one joke that determines what the recipient does next.
It may take 30 minutes for a sun to set, but it can take less than 30 seconds to ruin somebody's life. Life is made up of choices. Someone chose to bring you into this Earth. You choose what happens during your time on this planet. Do whatever you want during your lifespan, but don't be the reason someone chooses to hate themselves for the rest of their lives.
