The plastic cup was held loosely in her hand as she stood amongst the crowd, but her friends and twin knew that that could change in a second. Knew that her relaxed grip was forced, as was the small smile on her face.

While both her and her twin brother wore emotionless masks, she was the one truly devoid of emotion. She felt things sure, but they were detached feelings, like they crossed her path 20 feet in front of her. Her brother Hadrian however, he experienced emotions and unlike his sister's they were not detached. Unlike Harriet, he expressed those emotions, however minutely.

Each of their friends knew that this atmosphere, a relatively peaceful one despite the raging party around them, would disappear tomorrow as the twins prepared to leave Hogwarts and go back to their family manor for the first time in 4 years. Back to their parents, the Potters. And back to their brother; the boy who lived.

That night, after a night full of drinking, smoking, and partying, the twins fell asleep with all of their friends around them.

...

When they woke up, no words were said and they boarded the train silently. The entire ride was silent, and the first time they spoke was to say goodbye to their friends. Then, Draco led the twins over to his parents, the crowd parting to let them past.

The Malfoys watched as their son approached with the Potter twins, strong and stoic, on either side of him.

They knew how lucky their son was to have the twins as his friends. They were loyal to a fault once you earned it, and they would defend you until the day they die once you got close.

They watched Draco put his arms around the girl, Harriet, and wondered if they were more than friends.

"Mum, Dad, you remember Harriet and Hadrian right?"

How could they not? The first born Potters to be in Slytherin, the twins who everyone with half a brain knew not to annoy for fear of getting on their bad side.

"Of course we do, Draco. Hello Hadrian, Harriet. How are you two doing?" Narcissa pulled all three near-seventeen year olds into hugs, ignoring the stiffness in the twin's shoulders as she did so, and Lucius did the same.

Hadrian and Harriet smiled small smiles at the elder Malfoys, only Hadrian and Draco knew Harriet's was fake. They stood and chatted for a while before Harriet spotted Remus Lupin, the one who was likely sent to collect the twins and bring them to Potter Manor.

The two bid goodbye to the Malfoys, promising to attend the Summer Ball, and slipped through the crowd unnoticed. As they walked towards Remus, matching dark frowns made their way onto the twin's faces. It had been four years since they had been to Potter Manor, and to say they were not looking forward to it was like saying that the two sides in the last war had a minor disagreement.

"Hadrian? Harriet?" A voice asked from behind them.

They turned slowly, making the man nervous.

Remus Lupin stared at the twins in shock. He had expected that they would look like they had when they were twelve; tall and skinny, with baggy clothes that didn't do anything for them. Hadrian always had his head stuck in a book and Harriet was always in the kitchen, cooking and baking with the house elves.

Now, he stared at the two teens in front of him and wondered where the kids he used to know went. Instead of two skinny preteens, he saw two sixteen year olds with black hair and emerald green eyes, nice clothes that fit them well, and were the perfect mix between Lily and James Potter. While Harriet had Lily's frame and face shape, she had James's hair and height and Hadrian had James's frame and face shape, he had Lily's eyes and naturally unnerving stare. However, what hadn't come from either of the Potter parents, were the emotionless glances, the power to make all those around them bend to their will with a glance, the ability to convey such hate and disgust of those around them. Lily and James had no such opinions, and thought highly of all those that were not Death Eaters or under the service of the Dark Lord.

"It's been a while hasn't it?" Hadrian felt a small smirk working its way onto his face. Harriet simply stared directly at Remus, it unnerved the man more. The Harriet he knew was always working on a project or staring off into the distance, imagining her next one. This Harriet, didn't seem to do either of those things.

"There is a party at the manor," Remus said, after a while. "Your parents would like the two of you to talk to them once you arrive."

There was a silence, an uncomfortable one, where Remus looked everywhere but the twins, where Hadrian observed the man, and Harriet glared at the man, seemingly into his soul.

"We should go," Remus muttered, holding out his arm so that he could disapparate the three of them to Potter Manor. The twins grabbed on after Harriet rolled her eyes at the level of nervousness radiating from the man.

When the trio landed, they were in front of an impressive manor, surrounded by luscious gardens and expansive forests. There was faint classical music playing in the background, and the sound of hundreds of people talking.

Remus whispered something and the gate opened, allowing the two teenagers access to the manor. As Hadrian and Harriet walked across the grounds and through the party, they stuck to the shadows and avoided contact with any and all people. They entered through a side door and walked up the far stairs towards their rooms; wing really.

The twins split up and went to their separate rooms to shower and prepare themselves to face their parents. Harriet changed into a short, pleated skirt, a black corset top, a pair of black 5 inch heeled boots, and topped it off with a cropped leather jacket and jewelry. She left her room and went to Hadrian's just as he came into the room in just a towel. She rolled her eyes and went about doing her hair and makeup in her twin's mirror.

"Have you ever done your hair and makeup in your own room?" Hadrian teased, good naturally.

"Yes, once, it was terrible. You weren't there to comment on everything I do," Harriet quipped, speaking for the first time that day. Despite that, her voice was just as perfect as it always was.

"I'm sure," Hadrian muttered as he pulled on a white t-shirt, linen khaki trousers, and white vans.

Harriet finished her makeup and curled her hair, using her metamorph abilities to make her hair longer, and reach her waist. The two walked out of the room, arm in arm, and were immediately attacked by a blur of pink and blue.

"Ari? Ry?" A small voice asked. It was Remi Rose Potter, their little sister and one of the two who were allowed to call the twins nicknames.

"What's up Baby girl?" Hadrian's expression morphed from cold and expressionless to full of light and life.

"I've been waiting for you to come home," she giggled, reaching her hands up towards Harriet, whose expression had turned ever so slightly softer, just enough that her sister knew she cared. As always, Remi understood perfectly and just smiled brighter.

"Well then, up you go you Little Beast." Harriet lifted her little sister up into her arms and, with not so much of a glance towards the maid watching in the corner, left, Hadrian following at her elbow.

Looking at the twins' closeness, one would think that they could be dating. Add Remi and they looked like a family of three. It was only their likeness and similarity that you would know otherwise.

The three made their way through the kitchen and into the back garden, bracing for the encounter about to happen.
