Chapter Seven: Winters Dance

" Ahh Aoi come here, try this one on next!", Kanae shouted halfway across the mall.

It was the day before the winter dance and Aoi, Kanao, Shinobu, and Kanae were dress shopping.

" I beg for your mercy", Kanao said after she tried on her 130th dress.

" No no wait Kanao I've got one more for you!", Kanae said shoving her back into the dressing room.

It's been almost 6 hours and they still haven't found the "perfect" dress for them.

" Nee-san I think the girls are tired", Shinobu says. Aoi and Kanao were on the floor in tears.

" Nonsense we still have one more store", Kanae said with enthusiasm and dragged the three girls out of the store.

" Gonpachiro, what are you and Monitsu wearing?"inosuke asked, containing his laughter as the two boys walked out in suits.

" You look ridiculous", Inosuke said and burst out laughing.

" Inosuke you should get one too", Zenitsu said to him.

" Huh, why?", he asked.

" You're going with Aoi-chan right, she's going to be well dressed, you don't want to go there naked and embarrass her do you?", Tanjiro asked.

Maybe he's right, if Aoi could possibly be his soulmate he has to look his best, Inosuke thought to himself.

" Fine then find me one of these suit things", he said.

Tanjiro and Zenitsu got excited and led him to a dressing room.

It was now the day of the dance and everyone was getting ready.

" You girls are going to be the prettiest when we're done with you", Kanae said as she styled aoi's hair.

Shinobu was working on Kanao's hair. Kanae and shinobu were already ready for the dance and are now helping the younger ones.

" I think the boys will certainly think you're beautiful,'' Shinobu said and chuckled.

Kanao's face turned red and Kanae couldn't help but notice.

" Aww and look, Kanao is already thinking about him!"

" By the way who are you girls going with?", shinobu suddenly asked.

" Well a few days ago Tanjiro-kun asked me and I agreed", Kanao said.

Tanjiro asked Kanao? Well you know people say highschool dances really don't matter Aoi thought to herself.

" And you Aoi?", Kanae asked.

" That moron boar asked me, for no reason really", Aoi replied thinking of Inosuke.

" ooooh", Kanae taunted.

Aoi was wearing a blue dress that covered her arms and reached up to her knees. The dress was covered in blue butterflies and her hair was out; she was only wearing one of her butterfly clips to the side of her hair. Kanao was wearing a pink sleeveless dress with ruffles to the side, she wore a light green vest on top and wore a side braid.

" Beautiful,'' Shinobu said admiring them.

" Come on guys hurry up we have to pick up the girls", Tanjiro said.

" So what, they don't have legs now?", Inosuke asked.

" No Inosuke, it's just manners for a gentleman to bring the lady to the dance", Zenitsu said.

" My Nezuko-chan is already here so I won't have to come along", Zenitsu said in a squeaky voice.

" No way Zenitsu I agreed to let you take my sister to the dance but I'm watching you 24/7 so yes you are coming with us!", Tanjiro said.

They left the Kamados house with Nezuko and walked towards Aoi and Kanao's house. The four girls were waiting outside when the boys approached. Inosukes heart stopped for a few seconds. Aoi she was, she was so beautiful he thought to himself. He couldn't help but blush when she looked at him.

" You girls look so beautiful", Tanjiro said.

" Nezuko, how adorable", Kanae said running up to her.

" I know she's my future wife", Zenitsu said proudly.

" Not if I can help it", Tanjiro said, smacking him on the head. Kanao walked up to Tanjiro.

" T..tanjiro do I uh look okay?".

" You look perfect Kanao", he said and grabbed her hand.

Kanao's face turned red and Tanjiro chuckled.

" Let's go guys!", he said and walked ahead with Kanao.

Inosuke noticed that Aoi was watching them. Did she want to hold hands too? Inosuke took her hand and Aoi looked at him.

" Hey um you look decent I suppose".

" Thanks for the compliment", Aoi said sarcastically.

The whole walk there Inosuke was thinking of how to tell her about his mark. Meanwhile, Aoi had her gaze on Kanao and Tanjiro. The gym was decorated beautifully, Aoi and Kanao were satisfied with how it turned out. Inosuke immediately ran to the food and started stuffing his face while Aoi scolded him.

" Welcome everyone to this year's winter dance. I want to start off with thanking the student council for decorating the gym so wonderfully", the principal said.

" Now let's get this dance started!"

They played some energetic songs in the beginning and then started playing slower songs. Inosuke wanted to ask Aoi to dance even though he didn't know how to.

" Hey Aoi may I have this dance", he asked her nervously.

" You can dance?", she asked.

" Don't underestimate the great Inosuke", he said confidently.

Aoi giggled and took his hand. He stepped on almost all her toes about 5 times and even tried to kiss her.

" waah Inosuke", she said as she covered his mouth.

She left to sit down before he broke any of her toes and she was slightly flustered after that attempt. Inosuke sat down beside her.

" Inosuke, why did you ask me to the dance?", she suddenly asked.

" I already told you I felt bad for you", he quickly said.

" Really?", she asked.

" Actually Aoi I have to",

She cut him off.

" Sorry Inosuke I'll be back I just need to get some air", she said and left.

Inosuke thought she was acting a bit weird and decided to follow her.
