I checked my watch, frowning at how long it had been since the duo had entered the store ahead of me. Grimacing at the action I was about to take, I stood up from the bench and walked into the women's clothing store. Earning many spiteful and hateful glares, I walked up to the clerk and cleared my throat. She looked up and sighed, putting the book she was reading down. I struggle to stop myself from throttling her, especially after her next statement. Luckily Maurice, at least I assumed from the name tag, beared a slightly resemblence to my sister, so I was able to be successful.
Maurice: Great, another filthy man. What do you want, you horndog?
Y/N: Actually, I walked around the city with two girls. One was blue haired, the other a blonde. Both were about my height. We were supposed to meet up outside of this store ten minutes ago. I was starting to get worried. Could you check and see if maybe they're in the dressing rooms? It's just something doesn't feel right.
Maurice: I guess I can. Stay here, mongrel.
I struggle to maintain myself yet again as she walks off, maintaining an air of superiority about her. I start to think back on the mysterious figure I saw before. If it's what I think it is, I'll have to purge a corrupted version of my friend, and I really don't want that. I want to leave it all behind, start a new life in this city, and never go back. I'm snapped out of my thoughts however when Maurice comes back and literally start dragging me towards the dressing rooms. I barely manage to regain my footing and hurry after her, noticing the fear on her face. She turns another corner and my eyes widen, my face contorting to one of fury. On the wall was a message, directed at me.
If you want to see them alive again, meet me at the city square. Everyone can watch your defeat there, Lone Swordsman.
My hands turn into fists as my hatred once again builds up, causing my breath to hitch.
Maurice: I don't know what to do! The Lone Swordsman is dead! We can't get them back, it isn't possible!
Y/N: That bastard is going to pay...I wanted to be rid of that name forever....but now? It's time I return. Gather everyone you know, and bring them to the city square. I can promise the Lone Swordsman will show up.
Maurice: How can you be so sure?!
She looks at me, only to see unbridled rage brimming from my eyes. Before she can utter another word, I turn around and walk out, each step drawing me closer to my destination. My body shakes, the fury I feel barely restrained. Other people on the streets seem to be able to feel it as well, opening a path ahead of me. A crowd starts to form as announcements are made over the loudspeakers, which I can only assume are talking about what is going to happen. It takes me fifteen minutes, but I arrive at where I was challenged. I start pushing people out of the way, earning my way towards the innermost rings. I finally push past the last few, stepping into a clearing. Ahead of me is the corrupted form of Francesco, with both girls I was with tied to lampposts behind him. He smiles as everyone mutters, wondering why a boy no older than nineteen was here. I look down, my hair covering my face.
Y/N: You were my idol. You were a hero. You were what everyone should have dreamed to be. How far you have fallen Francesco. But don't worry, I'll free you forever. My duty...
I look up as my friends appear in my mind, unaware that they've made it to the front. The two beaten girls, Ark and Emily, look up. My eyes turn completely black as hatred billows off of me, a visible dark mist around me. This earns plenty gasps of shock, especially when a black katana appears in my hand.
Y/N: My duty as the Lone Swordsman is to kill you! I'll make sure you stay dead this time, old friend!
Francesco: Ah, my old training partner. We were friends before, but with this power the Blight has given me...You can't win! I'll kill you and prove I'm the strongest! When you're dead, there will be no one left to stop the Blight from coming back!
I crack my neck before taking a step towards him. It startles him as the ground cracks under my foot. Another step, another broken piece of concrete. What drives the fear in is when I give an open mouthed smile, revealing my teeth that have turned into almost razors.
Y/N: Don't disappoint me. I don't want you to die too quickly.
I seemingly disappear from everyones' vision, but my sword collides with his blade. He stabs at me and I seemingly get impaled, only for the image to disappear. I appear behind him and cut downwards. He steps forward and so, instead of being cleaved in two, gains a deep cut in his back. He looks back at me, but I make a fist before darkness explodes from his wound. He gets launched forward, and his face meets my shoe as I kick upwards. He gets launched into the air, but a grin comes across his face. He looks back to the ground, only to see I'm not there. His face reveals genuine terror as my voice whispers into his ear.
Y/N: I'm going to kill you as quickly as I can now, you failure.
I axe kick his back, hearing a loud crack before he's launched back towards the ground. He smashes into the concrete and his sword flies out of his grip. I land next to his broken form, the hatred oozing from me taking on a physical form. Reaching out towards him, I grin as I splay my hand, the hatred piercing through his body in several spots. He gasped before grinning, his body starting to disappear.
Francesco: I'm only the first ghost of your past. The others know you're here now. It won't be long. We will kill you soon.
I stomp on his neck, breaking it and forcing his body to completely dissipate. I turn away and untie the two girls, both of whom hug me. I hug them back as my eyes return to normal and my hateful mist fade away. I pull away from the hug and start walking, gesturing for them to follow.
Y/N: Come on. I'll take you to my place. We'll fix you up and get you some new clothes. Can't have you going around like that, and this is my fault. And don't een try to argue.
Ark: Alright.
Emily: Following you.
