For a whole month, Kindaichi tried to make plans with Kunimi and Kunimi narrowly got out of doing anything with him. He just couldn’t face him. Unfortunately, it put a damper on Kindaichi’s mood that he was being avoided. So the two ended up only talking during the shoots he did, and then Kunimi would make quick work of leaving and moving on with his day.

Kunimi was now seated at lunch with Mattsun and his now boyfriend, Makki, Oikawa’s manager, to discuss what will be going on for the day.

“Can we get started?” Kunimi asked.

“We just have to wait for one more person,” Mattsun informed.

“Sorry, I was running behind, something happened at the studio,” Kindaichi rushed up to the table, taking off his coat, and quickly sitting by Kunimi, “hello, Kunimi.”

Kunimi didn’t say anything, but there was a small blush on his cheek. ‘Did he get a haircut? It’s really cute.. Why are you thinking this?!’

“Nice haircut..” he muttered quietly.

“Oh you noticed? Thank you,” Kindaichi smiled softly.

“Daaaang boy,” Makki laughed.

“Anyways, shall we get started?” Mattsun asked.

The three nodded.

“Well, no shoot today, Kindaichi needs the day off-”

“I’m getting a puppy!”

“Yes, ok, well, you have a fitting at Yamaguchi’s and then the first table read of your movie,” Mattsun informed, handing Kunimi a couple of papers.

“Thanks..”

“Is that Kunimi?!” A girl’s voice gasped.

Kunimi turned and saw some girls, blushing and giggling. Just a couple of fans. Kunimi gave a small smile and waved. They shrieked.

“Alright, ladies, quiet down!” A gruff voice called from the counter.

“Yes sir! Sorry!”

“Are we done here?” Kunimi asked Mattsun, feeling uncomfortable being around Kindaichi again. He felt his breathing quicken and shallow. He began to panic.

“Oh, but your food hasn’t gotten here yet,” Mattsun informed.

“Oh, I don’t want it, here’s to help it,” Kunimi pulled out a couple 20s and threw it on the table in a rush.

“Kunimi this is $80!”

“See ya, Mattsun, I’ll see you at Yamaguchi’s!” Kunimi rushed out of the restaurant, throwing on his coat.

“Akira!”

Kunimi ignored the call as he began to walk away, his hands in his pockets. He didn’t know where he was going, but he had to get away from people, mainly Kindaichi.

“Akira!” The voice called closer as Kindaichi appeared by him, “you forgot your scarf aga- are you ok?”

Kunimi was staring, wide eyed at the ground.

“Akira?” He put a hand on Kunimi’s shoulder.

Kunimi pulled away, “you think you can just call me that after what you’ve done?!”

“W-What?” Kindaichi asked.

“Just call me ugly or or… maybe a bug, or a loser!”

“Kunimi, what are you talking about?” Kindaichi asked, “I’m getting worried, you seem off.”

“Does this seem familiar, Kindaichi?!” Kunimi mocked Kindaichi’s voice from highschool, “”Why not just take a swan dive off the roof?””

“Kunimi.. Are you thinking about…. Taking your life?”

“Was bullying me so small and unimportant to you that you don’t even remember?!”

“Bullying? Me not remembering?” Kindaichi asked.

“You know what? Don’t talk to me unless it's for work,” Kunimi snatched his scarf from Kindaichi’s hand and stomped off.

“What just happened?” Kindaichi asked, his heart was hurting, “I thought I was being nice to him while we were working together..”

A voice chuckled, “you seriously don’t know? You screwed him up.”

Kindaichi turned to the voice, “what do you mean, Oikawa?”

“The three of us went to the same highschool,” Oikawa explained, “and you.” He snapped and pointed at Kindaichi, “you put him in crutches and told him to take his own life.”

“No.. I didn’t… I wouldn’t do that!” Kindaichi yelled, “you’re lying!”

“Wow, your memory sucks,” Oikawa snickered, “you’re not a good guy Kindaichi, and forgetting it all just made it worse.”

“I remember now..”

“Why are you doing this?” The kid cried, “I didn’t do anything!”

“Shut up!” Kindaichi pushed him over and throwing his bag at him.

“Kunimi?”

“Oh sh*t!” Kindaichi ran off before the 3rd year could come over.

“See, Kindaichi? You’ve caused him so much heartache and he’ll never trust a single person again,” Oikawa smirked.

“Tooru!” A girl’s voice called out.

“Coming, babe!” Oikawa ran off.

“I… bullied Kunimi?”

Kunimi woke up, exhausted the next day. It was still early, his alarm hadn’t gone off yet so he just decided to get up since he couldn’t fall back asleep anyways.

He forced himself up to shower and get dressed, but he definitely wasn’t excited to see Kindaichi today, especially after the mental breakdown he had.

After everything was finished, he reached for his phone and saw a couple of missed calls and messages from Mattsun.

‘Kunimi, it’s important.’

‘Please call me when you receive this message.’

Kunimi clicked the phone icon and put his hand to his ear. Mattsun answered.

“Hello?” He spoke into the phone.

“Work is cancelled today.”

“How come?” Kunimi was curious.

“We need to find you a new photographer, Kindaichi quit yesterday.”
