I tapped my foot, as I was growing more and more impatient.

What are they talking about in there? I thought. After all, it was a very peculiar situation. Luke and I were just at that karaoke bar, and his mom called him in a screaming fit.

I looked over at the room again, where they were talking, and saw Luke's silhouette get up and walk toward the door. It opened and he walked out, looking really pissed at his mom.

"I'm suppose to fly back to Australia now. My mom's sister just had some kind of surgery, she might not make it."

My heart dropped. I knew I couldn't leave yet. There was way too much going on here, and I had no money.

"Oh god, please tell me you're coming." He looked at me sadly, and it was clear to me that he knew the answer to his question.

"I... I can't. You know that. I mean, would we even have a plan? Sure, I'd fly too Australia. But what's next? What would happen after that? You're traveling everywhere, all the time, and we just need to think reasonably." I bit my lip so hard that I could taste the blood in my mouth.

'It doesn't matter, we can make it work. I swear. I'll do anything." Luke's hand started shaking, and he averted making eye contact.

"I'm not abandoning you, I hope you understand that. We WILL see each other again someday, I know it in my heart." A tear began to escape my eyes, rolling down my cheek and dripping down onto my lap.

"Of course. But when? I'm not coming back to New York for at least a couple months, and I don't know if I can wait that long." Luke was tapping his feet, and I could tell that he was nervous.

"Then I don't know what we are going to do. I was starting to think, before I came here, that maybe I could use my grandma's money to get in a college, I mean I do have very good grades. I was going to apply. Now that I think about it, there really is a lot keeping me here. I'm so sorry, Luke."

"I can't take another loss right now." I could see him trembling.

"Me neither, but we need to think rationally. If you were normal, it could work. But you aren't. You are one of the greatest humans that walks this planet, but you also don't live a normal life. You're always somewhere else, and I can't follow you on that journey." I looked up at him and met his gaze, and made out a sad smile.

"I'm le... I'm leaving for the airport in twenty minutes, can you at least come with me to say goodbye?" he asked.

"Of course."

He held my hand tightly as we sat in the car, on our way to the airport.

"I promise to you, I will be back here to see you the second i have the chance. You already mean the world to me, even though it has only been a day since I've met you. This, right here, between us, is something magical. And we can't ignore that. We just can't. I'll find a time to come see you, it shouldn't be that long." He grimaced and looked over at me, savoring the moment.

We pulled up to the gate and both got out of the car. I walked with him into the airport, and we luckily weren't noticed by anyone.

"Luke, this isn't a goodbye. You know that, right? We will see each other soon. This here is something that is lasting, and it will continue. We just need to find a way." I went up to him and hugged him as tightly as I could, closing my eyes and grabbing his hair in my hand.

"I know. Of course I know. I'll call you as soon as I found out what we can do. This isn't a goodbye, I'll see you soon."

And with that, he kissed me one last time and whispered that he loved me in my ear. He walked off, kept on looking behind his shoulder, and eventually disappeared from my line of sight. I wiped the tears from my eyes, and sat there on a chair for what seemed like forever, watching out the window for hours at every single plane, just wondering with every launch if that was Luke in there, leaving. Flying away.
