Terrasen
As all of her friends filed into the throne room, Aelin couldn't help but smirk at Rowan from across the room. She couldn't believe that this was really happening.
She was going to be a mother.
She didn't know how it had taken her this long to figure it out. She was already 4 weeks pregnant.
When she had first found out she didn't believe it. It couldn't be true? Could it?
Well it had been 3 years since the war.
But she still didn't expect pregnancy to come so soon. Especially since it was so hard to conceive children when you were fae.
Terrasen was thriving and held strong relations with adarlan and the western wastes.
Not to mention Wendlyn and the Southern Continent.
Life was going great. And at least once every month they would all get together in one of their kingdoms and get drunk silly.
Only last week had everyone gone back home, only to be called back to Terrasen to celebrate the newly announced heir to the Terrasen throne.
She was overjoyed that she would soon be a mother. But her joy was nothing compared to how happy Rowan was when she had told him.
He had swooped her up into his arms smiling and laughing and crying all at once. She couldn't recall the last time he had looked so happy.
It hadn't taken long for her mate to shift into his hawk form and fly to all their friends kingdoms to tell them the good news.
That was a week ago and her friends were all arriving now to celebrate.
Sadly Chaol and Yrene couldn't make it to the celebration. They had to stay home and look after their 3 year old daughter, who was sick with the flu
"Well well. It took you long enough. I was thinking you would have conceived a child within a year of kicking that piece of shit's ass." Manon chided the young queen as she strode in with Dorian on her arm.
"I could say the same to you witch, with the amount of times you and Dorian here have snuck off during meetings"
That got a chuckle out of the handsome king.
"You both truly have a way with words" a female voice calls from the left of the throne, followed by the scoff of the woman's mate.
"Oh sorry brother. Are we making you uncomfortable" Rowan said to Aedion, a teasing grin playing at his lips.
After catching up on all the gossip from the seperate kingdoms and congratulating her as well as her mate, Aelin declared that it was time for the real fun to begin.
After clapping her hands twice, servants came bustling in with the most delicious buffet Aelin had seen in a while. As she started to make her way towards the table with the wine Lysandra grabbed her wrist, causing the queen to stop in her tracks.
"Aelin! You can't go drinking alcohol! Your pregnant! Seriously do you know nothing about having a child?"
"Oops? Well if I'm not allowed alcohol then what am I allowed? Because I sure as fuck ain't drinking water all night"
Shaking her head and laughing under her breath Lysandra called to one of the servants and requested that they go fetch her friend a cider.
As the night wore on, the courts started to do party tricks with their magic.
Rowan and Dorian worked together to make an icy lane in one corner of the throne room that led to a group of snowmen, also created by the two kings, for the friends to slide along and crash into. Lysandra was the best at it, but that was only bcs she kept shifting the whole time according to Aelin.
Even tho it was scarce and only lasted so long, Aelin did different tricks with her fire. She juggled fire balls, gave each and everyone of them fire crowns and even set Aedion's pants on fire, to the delight of everyone. Well everyone except Aedion.
As midnight drew closer, Aelin started to feel strange. At first she put it down to the pregnancy, but she soon started to feel a burning feeling at her chest. This definitely wasn't because of her being pregnant.
Rowan seemed to notice that Aelin wasn't feeling all that well and locked eyes with her from the corner of the room, where he stood by the ice lane.
Fireheart are you ok? Rowan said to her in the strange way that they can speak without saying a word. In that way that they know what the other is saying, just by looking at their eyes.
Yeah I'm fine. I just feel a bit light headed.
Love. Are you sure you're ok? You look like something is troubling you
Is it getting hot in here are us that just me?
Rowan look at his mate with worry written over his features. Their friends seemed to notice Rowan staring at her, for they all went silent and looked to Aelin.
She needed to stand up and go get a drink. She was just dehydrated. That was all.
As she stepped from the Dias Aelin felt a wave of pain from where the Eye of Elena sat against her chest. Without knowing what was happening, Aelin collapsed onto the ground~
What was wrong with his mate? He could feel that something was amiss, but he couldn't tell what it was. She looked as white as a ghost.
Could it be the pregnancy making her nauseous? No that couldn't be right. He knew what that looked like, even if he didn't at the time when Lyria was going through that pain.
He could tell that she didn't know what was happening either. He watched as his mate got to her feet shakily. As soon as she took a step he knew something was terribly wrong.
Two seconds later his Fireheart collapsed onto the throne room floor. Without even stopping to put down his glass he rushed to his queen's side.
She was burning up.
Her skin was as white as snow but as hot as burning coals.
Aedion, Dorian, Manon, Lysandra, Elide, Lorcan and Fenrys gathered around him and his mate within seconds. They stared on with fear in their eyes as Rowan ripped open the front of Aelin's thick jacket.
Water. He needed to cool her down with water.
He turned to Dorian with pleading eyes "we need to poor water onto her skin to cool her down and we need to do it fast." Without another word Dorian used what little was left of his powers to drench his friend.
When the water hit her chest there was a vicious hissing sound. Rowan searches for what was causing the sound and saw the Eye of Elena testing agains Aelin's chest, glowing a blinding red.
All of a sudden Rowan felt a tug in his chest. He didn't know what it was, but it wasn't the mating bond. He looked at his companions to ask if they felt it too, when all of a sudden the Eye of Elena exploded into a black vortex that sucked him and his companions into oblivion.~
There was fire everywhere. She hasn't felt this much heat within her veins since before she had forged the lock. But that couldn't be. She had lost her powers and her human self. Yet here she was. Burning with the familiar sensation of the sun shining through her.
After the initial feeling of confusion she started to panic. Why is her flame back? It shouldn't be back. It's gone forever.
Rowan
Where was Rowan? The last thing she remember was collapsing and his eyes taking to her. Suddenly her senses went numb and her fire guttered out.
Just as suddenly as it disappeared it came back. Then it was gone. It just kept coming and going non stop until finally it settled into a constant flame.Pls comment if you have any feedback. It's my first time writing so I'll take all the feedback I can get. Hope you enjoy my writing
