Bryce had no idea why she agreed to go to this stupid meeting. The whole fucking time, all her father did was throw insult after insult at her.
She was just sick of the bastard. He's the one who called this meeting. He should at least have the decency to show some hospitality.
But no. Instead of talking about the continued rebuilding of FIRO like they were supposed to be doing, her shit excuse for a father spent every second of the meeting criticising Bryce for the smallest things.
By the end of the meeting she was shocked at how much restraint she had, and she could tell Hunt was thinking the same. It took all of her will power not to lunge across the table and just strangle the Autumn King, and about halfway through she could have sworn she tasted static in the air.
So much for being diplomatic. At least they got it done and out of the way fast. It would be a miracle if she never had to step foot within 100k of her father ever again. But she knew that that would never happen.
As soon as they crossed the threshold hunt scooped Bryce up into his arms and shot into the sky. Bryce snuggled into hunt al little closer and could have sworn she heard the faintest purr. Scoffing at the pure male arrogance in the sound, she let the steady stream of the wind in her hair wash away the anger and hate coursing through her veins.

It took all of Hunts willpower throughout that meeting not to beat the Autumn King to a pulp. Every word out of that bastards mouth had him seeing red. Every sentence the male uttered contained some form of barb designed to make Bryce feel incompetent.
When they had finally left Bryce's fathers's house, he had scooped her up in his arms and shot into the sky. Hunt knew she was in a bad mood, so he did the only thing he could think of at that moment that would take her mind off that piece of shit. He purred and made sure to put as much male arrogance into it as he could muster, just to see her smile.
It took all of 3 minutes to arrive at Ruhn's place after taking to the skies. It took some convincing, but Bryce had finally managed to rope him into going to the reopening of the white raven. It was supposed to open in an hour, leaving Hunt, Bryce, Ethan, Ruhn, Hypaxia, Isaiah, Flynn and Declan to have a few drinks and get ready before they left.
After 45 minutes of drinking they finally set out for the club. On the way there Bryce stopped to look at her phone.
"You've got to be fucking kidding me!" She whined. "Jessiba is forcing me to sign off on a deal, and it needs to be done at the exact same time as the re opening! I fucking hate my life"
Shaking his head, Hunt turned to the others. "We'll meet you there"
"No detours Athlar"
Bryce glared at her brother and rolled her eyes as they continued down the street. Again, he scooped up Bryce into his arms and the shot back into the skies.

Jessiba could be a bitch at times but did she seriously have to make her sign off on a deal on the opening knight of the raven! Hunt landed on the pavement a few meters from Griffen Antiquities and, before he could even tuck in his wings, Bryce was already walking towards the door in a huff.
"Well someone's a bit angry. What's pushing your buttons sweetheart?" She knew he was just trying to keep her mind from drifting. She had only come within 100m of Griffin Antiquities 5 times since Lehaba had died, and each time she came close to the store she had broken down.
Before she reached the door she turned back to flip off Hunt for the comments and for good measure, even though she knew he was just trying to help. As she was about to turn back around she saw something move out of the corner of her eye.
Whipping her head from Hunts face she stared at the strange thing flying towards her city. As she stared she realised that whatever it, was it was on fire.
Without even thinking Bryce dropped her keys and sprinted in the direction it was coming from. Tears were streaming down her face with each second. Even though she knew it could never be true, she just kept sprinting.
"LEHABA!" She screamed as loudly as she could through panting breaths. "LEHABA!"
There was no stopping the tears that streamed down her face as she saw a flaming figure heading straight towards her. She didn't even register that the figure was to big to be her beloved friend, all she could think of was seeing the fire sprite again.
She could sense Hunt's presence above her but ignored it. She didn't want him to stop her, she just wanted to see her friend. "LELE! LELE, IT'S ME! IT'S BRYCE!"
She could feel the sobs building in her chest. She barrelled on, not caring who saw her or what they thought of her. There was a loud boom coming from the direction of the falling figure of flames. As Bryce picked up her pace she could hear the beat of her heart ringing in her ears.
Big strong arms grab her out of nowhere and hold her back. They weren't rough or trying to hurt her but Bryce still fought against their hold. She had to get to Lele. She just had to. All consequences aside.
Finally she gave in and let the arms envelope her as all the adrenaline left her body. Hunt just held her and stroked her wine red hair as she sobbed and shuddered against his chest. She hated herself for leaving Lehaba behind that day. It was her fault her friend was gone. Her fault. All her fault.
As all these thoughts overtook her she crumpled to the ground. Her friend was gone. She was never coming back and she would just hurt herself more by thinking she would.
Hunt just held her until she had calmed down enough to stand and talk. After her initial reaction to the flaming figure in the sky, she came to the conclusion that whatever it was, it was not meant to be there.

~

He wasn't prepared for Bryce to drop everything and run like that. She was just standing there looking at him with an exasperated but also happy look, and then out of nowhere she just bolted.
She was so fast, and when she screamed out the fire sprites name and he saw the flaming thing falling through the sky, he knew he need to get to her before she reached whatever it was. Because if she reached that thing in the state she's in now there is no knowing how much danger she could be in.
Hunt shot into the sky and raced after Bryce. She was only a few blocks from where the flame had crashed by the time he reached her. He reached out and gently held her. Not letting her go, no matter how hard she tried to get free. She finally stopped fighting and fell onto his chest. He just held her and comforted her until she was ready and calm.
After a few minutes of silence Hunt finally spoke.
"Whatever that thing is, we don't know wether it is dangerous or not. By the look of it's entrance I'm tipping it's dangerous." Bryce nodded "we need to approach with caution"
"No shit Sherlock." She scoffed as she pulled out her gun. "I'll go ahead. I'm the better shot with a gun, and we both know it"
Rolling his eyes at her, hunt pulled out his gun as well.
As they advanced on the thing from the sky, Hunt took in all the surroundings and exits. Just in case.
Rounding the corner, they both took a step back from shock. Right where the flame should have landed was a 23 year old girl, by the looks of it, surrounded by smouldering stones and ash.
Her long blonde hair was covered in soot, and when she looked up, she had the most stunning turquoise eyes, with a brim of gold around them. Both Hunt and Bryce had their guns trained on her, and all she did was mutter one word before slipping into the black abyss of unconsciousness.
As he stared at the girl, Hunt thought on what she had said.
What the fuck does Rowan mean

I hope you're enjoying crescent flames of the night so far. It will probably take longer for chapters to be posted because I'm going to try post two at once, and I have a lot of work to do for school.
