For the first time in my entire life, I had absolutely no idea what was going on in a game. In normal circumstances, gaming was the one thing in life I had control over. However, right now, that control was being wrenched out of my hands by my bot of a teammate.

This was only the second round, and the team we were up against were surprisingly strong. We had just lost the previous round so I couldn't afford to buy a sniper rifle.

"Hey man, I'm going econ, alright?" I had informed Apple Pie, as the absence of a sniper often made a huge difference. "Sorry in advance if I can't cover you."

I mean, I wasn't trash with ARs, though I wasn't exactly skilled either. That was his rea of expertise. For now, I simply had to sacrifice a round to save up. Still, I low-key felt bad about being a letdown, especially in front of his friends.

However, he wasn't at all upset. "No, that's all good." Instead, he even took it upon himself to buy me a pistol. "Here, use this."

"Thanks. You really didn't have to." I gratefully picked up the bright pink GSR he threw me. "I need to start pulling my own weight."

"Don't worry about it." He replied calmly, his voice as indifferent as ever. "Save up this round. I need you in the next."

And yet I smiled at his simple words. It wasn't the first time that he had done this, yet I couldn't help but feel... to be honest, I wasn't entirely sure what I was feeling. Happy? Content? Appreciated? Perhaps it was a mixture of those. Nonetheless, it was a pleasant sensation.

But very soon, I found myself spectating as my hopes were being stamped out by a noob. Without a proper gun, I couldn't cover Apple Pie, or watch his back, therefore he went down as the opening fragger. But at least he had taken two opponents with him, which was a good trade. On the other side of the map, I managed to headshot another enemy, before being gunned down.

This was where everything went downhill. Duolingo Owl, who seemed to have zero game sense, ran mindlessly into the open and was immediately sniped. His friend, AK-47, who was following close behind, fell in the same spot, by the same bullet. Not only did they manage to drop the bomb, but they had given the other team's sniper a collateral. This was pure humiliation.

Now, I was forced to watch in agonising helplessness as our last remaining player camped in a corner just outside of the terrorist base.

"You've got to be kidding me." I heard Apple Pie mutter his barely audible curses, before speed typing in the game chat.

applep1e: Get the AFK. He's camping at spawn.
