Kyuhyun couldn’t sleep. After Changmin passed out he was dragged inside to be checked by the doctor, who had said that is was just stress. Kyuhyun didn’t believe it. There was no way Changmin could have passed out because of stress. Siwon had forced Kyuhyun back into his cell soon after the doctor had said that Changmin was fine.

“Why am I being blamed?” Kyuhyun asked himself and rolled in his bed. Changmin hadn’t still woken up and it made him a bit worried. He heard Heechul’s voice behind the wall. He was probably just talking shit about Changmin or Kyuhyun and didn’t want to be heard. It was something Kyuhyun was used to. Sometimes Heechul was really nice to him. Like a brother. But then again, he was a very moody person.

Kyuhyun heard Changmin move. He quickly looked under his bed but the tall guy was lying still with his eyes closed.

“Minnie please wake up,” he whispered and stared at Changmin face. He was handsome when sleeping. His messy hair was covering almost half of his face and his lips were parted. Kyuhyun found himself smiling. He jumped down from his bed and knelt down next to Changmin. He brushed Changmin’s dark hair away from his face.

“Please,” Kyuhyun whispered again and pressed his head on Changmin’s chest. He was breathing steadily. Kyuhyun just listened to his heartbeats and closed his eyes.

“Why am I being like this?” Kyuhyun mumbled. It was quiet. Heechul and Donghae had gone to sleep because no talking was heard and all the other prisoners were either too far away or sleeping. Only thing Kyuhyun heard was his cellmate’s heart beating. Kyuhyun felt relaxed. He knew Changmin was okay and for some reason it made him feel good. Wasn’t it only natural to feel better knowing your friend is okay? Changmin’s calm breathing helped Kyuhyun fall asleep after all the stress. For the first time in years Kyuhyun felt safe. The man he had known for only two weeks made him feel safe. He had a friend. A real friend. Not like Heechul who could turn from a friend into an enemy in one night.

Changmin could finally hear everything around him. The screaming, the sound of police sirens. He felt drops of sweat on his forehead.

“Please don’t do this!” a woman yelled in panic. There was a man standing in front of Changmin and the woman. Changmin looked at his own hand. He was holding a knife. His heart was beating fast. The man was someone Changmin didn’t know and he was holding onto a young girl.

“Say bye to your little family because you’re coming with me,” he said and pulled the girl’s hair causing her to scream in pain. Changmin was afraid. He felt tears fall on his cheeks as he got up.

Kyuhyun woke up to Changmin’s sobbing. He lifted his head and saw tears on Changmin’s face. He tried to wipe them away but his hand was stopped by Changmin’s.

“Are you okay?” Kyuhyun asked trying to yank his hand away from Changmin’s grip. Changmin opened his eyes but Kyuhyun could see he wasn’t conscious. His eyes didn’t react to him.

“Minnie you’re hurting me,” Kyuhyun whined but the stronger man didn’t let go of his wrist.

“LET GO OF MY SISTER!” Changmin yelled and with a quick move got up and wrapped his free hand around Kyuhyun’s throat.

Kyuhyun was shocked. He didn’t know what to think. He was being strangled by the man he had just started to trust. Changmin forced him to lie on the cold floor. There was nothing Kyuhyun could do. Changmin was just too big for him to defeat. Kyuhyun’s sight was starting to fade out.

Am I really going to die this time?” he thought and tried to make any kind of sound that would make Changmin snap out of his trance.

“I trusted you Minnie,” he managed to say with a hoarse voice before losing consciousness.

“I trusted you Minnie.” The words echoed in Changmin’s head. What did the words mean? Who said them? The young man was confused. Before he could think about the words in his head he saw Kyuhyun. There he was. Lying on the floor with his eyes closed and Changmin’s hand around his throat. Changmin panicked. He immediately took his hands away from Kyuhyun and got off of him.

“What am I doing?” he asked himself in panic. He leaned closer only to hear that Kyuhyun wasn’t breathing. Changmin quickly pressed his ear against Kyuhyun’s chest. His heart was still beating.

Changmin didn’t know what to do. He wanted to call for help but it would cause a lot of trouble for him.

“I’m really sorry Kyu,” he cried. He tilted Kyuhyun’s head and closed his nose with his thumb and index finger. Changmin swallowed and pressed his lips tightly onto Kyuhyun’s and blew two times quickly. He listened but the unconscious male was still not breathing. Changmin repeated the act a couple of times and after the fifth time he could feel Kyuhyun breathing on his own. Colour started to return on Kyuhyun’s face as he began coughing. Changmin tried to wipe away his tears. He didn’t know why he had tried to strangle his only friend. In fact he didn’t even remember getting out of bed.

He grabbed Kyuhyun by his shoulders and hugged him.

“Kyu I’m so sorry! Are you okay,” he cried and wrapped his arms around Kyuhyun’s fragile body. Kyuhyun didn’t say a word. He was still shocked and scared. He couldn’t blame Changmin for trying to kill him because he obviously wasn’t in this world while doing it. Hearing Changmin cry was too much for Kyuhyun. He had never felt the way he did at the moment. He himself felt tears forming in his eyes. Changmin’s touch still made him feel safe for some reason. It was like the man had two personalities and this was the one Kyuhyun wanted.

“Minnie don’t,” Kyuhyun muttered and wiped away the tears that had fallen on his cheeks. Changmin carefully pushed Kyuhyun away from his body and looked at his face.

“I’m sorry,” the tall man sobbed and bit his lower lip. Kyuhyun felt sorry for him. Changmin knew what he did but Kyuhyun could sense that he didn’t have any clue why and when. It was probably the same with what he did to get a life sentence. Kyuhyun tried to smile as he wiped away Changmin’s tears.

“Don’t be. You’re not the first man who has tried to strangle me,” he said and brushed Changmin’s hair away from his face to see his eyes.

“That doesn’t make it okay,” Changmin said stared Kyuhyun’s eyes pleading for forgiveness. Kyuhyun placed his hands on Changmin’s cheeks.

“You wanted to save me after realising what you did and that is something none of my other cellmates would have done,” Kyuhyun comforted his friend.

“You care about me Minnie. Otherwise you wouldn’t be crying right now.” Changmin nodded. He was embarrassed. Why was Kyuhyun being so nice to him?

“Whenever you feel like your anger is about to burst, just tell me and I’ll help you,” Kyuhyun said and smiled. Changmin felt his heart beat faster. Was Kyuhyun’s smile doing it to him? Without thinking he leaned forward and pressed soft lips against Kyuhyun’s.
