The frat house hosting the party was bigger than I expected. It was traditional and elegant from the exterior, but the inside was clearly a different story. As we strolled up the path, I noticed the garden was decorated with red plastic cups. The music was thumping like a club, influencing a ping of excitement inside me. I hadn't been to a party since what happened, I hadn't even drank. I used to always get wasted, stay at my friends house, and never tell my mom and dad.

I smiled to myself as I remembered the one time me and my old friend Nicole got so drunk we slept in her car outside where the party was hosted. We were seventeen, a pair of rebels, and didn't care. But then a flash of Kierans face knocked me out of my reminiscence, there was nothing good to remember about him and unfortunately he came with all those memories.

"Vic?"

Vic. That sounded so much better than Vicky and I was thrilled she'd used that instead of it.

"Er yeah?" I looked round to see three guys standing beside her. I could just about see their faces in the dark, but the few colourful lights that were scattered around made it easier to see.

"This is my brother, Adam-" she pointed to the tallest with blonde messy hair. He was cute. "- and this is his main friends, Jason and Carter" the other two were just as cute, just as muscular, and both had darker hair than Adam. But I still wasn't interested. I don't think any boy would interest me again.

"Nice to meet you" I gave a small wave and one of the brunettes - I think Carter - gave me a wink before sliding his arm around my shoulder. I instantly froze up.

"Hey, Angel, why don't we go get a drink?" He reeked of alcohol, I'm sure it was rum I could smell, and he was practically slurring his words. I looked over to Bree for help but she was gone.

"Er, no thank you. I'm okay" I nudged his arm away from my shoulder, suddenly frightened when he held on tighter. "Can you please let go" I shrugged my shoulder more to move him, but he didn't. "Seriously, get off me!" I hadn't realised I'd shouted until a few faces turned to look at us. Luckily, he moved his arm and placed both hands up in surrender before moving himself towards what looked like the kitchen. He practically staggered, bumping into several people, but I was just glad he was gone.

As I glanced around the space surrounding me, I noticed Bree standing beside her brother and his other friend, Jason. They were in the corner of a living room. She seemed to be too close considering he was her brothers friend, but I guessed she had a little crush on him. I turned slightly, stopping when I saw her call me over.

Her infectious bright smile was aimed straight at me as she waved her hand towards herself for me to follow.

I made my way through the throng of people, squeezing through gaps without trying to upset anyone. Most people were too drunk to notice.

"Where's Carter?"

I winced. "Hopefully not coming back"

"Oh," she giggled before passing me a drink of some clear looking liquid. "Vodka" she clarified and took a sip of her own. "So you don't like him?"

I shook my head rapidly. "No way, he was practically all over me. No thank you"

"Yeah, he is a little touchy-feely," she shuddered before giggling again. "I know, let's dance!" She dragged me towards the middle of where everyone was dancing, and I didn't miss the look Jason gave her as she walked away. Yep, they were totally into each other and Adam had no idea.

"Tell me you dance?" She asked, eyes wide with hope.

"Yes, I dance"

"Good!" She lifted our joined hands in the air as she spun around, moving her hips. She had her eyes closed and was completely lost in the song. It was by Mabel, and was also one of my favourites so I couldn't help join in. I thought I felt free earlier, but this was something else. This was pure bliss. Happiness at its peak. I hadn't felt this good in such a long time, maybe it's because I know he can't hurt me here but either way I felt amazing.
