"Cupcake-" He began but I cut him off.
"I just want to sleep, Mason. I'm tired."
He exhaled, frustrated. "Please, V. Talk to me." He pushed off the wall, the familiar movement making me realise he was heading straight for me. And I was right.
I stared up at him, unsure what to do. I wanted him so badly to fall into my arms, but I also didn't. He came even closer, reaching out for me.
"Baby, you're so beautiful. I've never laid eyes on someone so pretty, eyes so mesmerising." He was holding my cheek as he spoke. My stomach did a thousand flips, my heart fluttering. He was so sweet at times, it was too much. Too intense.
"We're not here to talk sweet, Mason. Thank you for the compliments, but that's not why Bree left us to talk."
He sighed, sitting beside me on the bed. I started to feel cold, I wanted so bad to snuggle up into my blankets.
"I'm sorry for what Harry said. I'll admit, I've slept with a lot of girls but that's not my intention with you. I want to get to know you." His eyes showed so much sincerity. "Please, trust me. I'm so sorry for what he said, I nearly killed him."
I pulled my quilt higher as goosebumps marred my skin, his eyebrows furrowed at me.
"I'm just so worried, Mason. I've been through so much." I swallowed as I remembered everything with Kieran. I shouldn't try compare him, but I automatically do. I can't help it. I started to shiver again, and I knew he noticed.
"Come here, you're freezing aren't you?"
I nodded shyly. "It's okay, don't worry. I'll be fine." I waved him off, but he crawled up beside me. My bed was so small his leg was touching mine.
"Seriously, come here." He lifted his arm, leaving a space for me to curl into so I did. His whole body was rigid at first, then he relaxed a little. I could feel his muscles tense as my hand lay on his abdomen. I was warmer in seconds, not only did his body heat radiate into mine, just a single touch from him set me on fire.
"Tell me what happened at home, please." He pleaded, looking down at me.
"I can't. Not yet. I just need you to understand." My eyes were begging him as we gazed at each other. I couldn't tell him anything, not yet.
He sighed in frustration again. "Okay, I'll give you time. But please, don't leave me in the dark for too long."
I nodded and smiled. It felt we were over our disagreement, but was I ready? I genuinely believed him when he said I meant more than a hook-up, but I was still allowed my reservations, right?
"I need to know, are you willing to let me take you on our date, Saturday?" He held no expression, but I knew inside his heart was pelting against his ribs. He wanted me to say yes.
I thought for a second, maybe if I allow our date I'll get to know him better. We can develop whatever this is and, if we're lucky, let it turn into something good. I wanted so bad to trust him fully, I suppose a date will allow that.
"Okay." I said, quietly and soft.
His face lit up like a light. His smile reached his ears, and I noticed a small dimple. I don't think I'd seen him smile this big before, he usually keeps to his sexy smirks. I was in awe of his real smile. I must have smiled back because his eyebrows furrowed together again and he asked. "What's that look for?" His eyes were narrowed in suspicion.
"I've just never seen you smile like that." I chuckled, and his cheeks heated. My stomach clenched in worry I had upset him again. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean-"
"Don't apologise, you didn't do anything. I've never had someone say that to me about my smile. You're pretty cute." He leaned down and kissed the tip of my nose. I sighed in content.
"Changing the subject, what do you wanna do with your psychology degree then." I asked.
"Honestly, I don't know. I just know I really like the subject. You?"
"Maybe a counsellor, I like working with children so either that or a secondary school teacher." I really didn't mind either. One day I would have to choose, albeit. "It's okay not to know by the way, I understand that. Why are you in the frat house though? Isn't that for football players?"
He chuckled.
"What?"
"It is. Again, you're the first person that's asked me that. But I've been friends with the guys since high school, it just happened. I really like it there, though."
We settled into a conversation, staying up most the night. Bree unsurprisingly didn't return, she was obviously with Jason. I was glad me and Mason were okay now, but I was hoping I'd trust him more soon. I had to get over my trust issues.
By the time it reached three in the morning, I was dropping off in Masons arms. I knew for a fact I would be exhausted tomorrow.
"You're so cute when you're tired," he chuckled, brushing his fingers through my hair.
"Mmmm" I mumbled, snuggling closer.
"Want me to leave?" He asked, but I was too tired to speak. So I came even closer, gripping his shirt. Eventually, I dropped off, not sure if he'd left.
