"MASON!!!" A loud male voice came from behind us as we descended the stairs, and Mason turned with a smirk on his face.
"Harry!" He shouted back, giving each other a small pat on the back like boys do when they greet. I stood awkwardly beside him, his hand still in mine.
"This is Victoria," he introduced me, and I was about to say hi when the boy opened his mouth.
"Lay of the night? I like!" My blood drained from my face. He addressed me next, "Let me know if you want a piece of me afterwards, hun." I almost threw up.
I ripped my hand from Mason as he went to explain, but I didn't stick around to hear it. I didn't want to.
"Victoria please!" He pleaded, then I heard his outrage at Harry.
But I didn't care. The damage had been done. What was I doing? He was clearly the biggest player walking, and I thought I was different. I carried on moving, heading somewhere other than this ridiculous party, when a tall guy with dark hair jumped in front of my face.
"Hey! Remember me?" It took me a moment but I realised it was Hunter. I smiled for the first time tonight since leaving the car.
"How could I forget." I joked, remembering how persistent he was to drop me off at home last week.
"Victoria?!" I heard Masons voice coming from behind and I ran. I wasn't sticking around for this.
I raced out the front door, frantically looking left and right for which direction to take. Last week Jason drove left, but he came from the right this week. I had no idea where to go. Deciding I'd had enough, and no longer cared, I took left. I strode in that direction, stopping when Hunter shouted me.
"Hey, where are you going?" I looked behind to see him jogging up to me, Mason hot on his heels fuming. Oh no.
"I'm going home, I think you should go Hunter."
I turned back towards the road but I could hear both their footsteps behind me.
"Yeah, leave Hunter. Now." Mason growled. I turned to place myself between them, and noticed something. They seemed familiar with each other, but Hunter never said he knew him last week when he dropped me off. I feel I'm in the dark about everything and everyone.
"Stop! Boys!" I pulled Mason away, his arms circling me in that protective manner that I liked. But I had to unlike it. I wasn't going near him again. "Mason, just please go. I'm not another one of your side pieces, I'm not like that!"
Steam practically blew from every hole in his face. "Have you not listened to anything I've said to you? I know you're not like that! I like you and I don't know why but I do and if you think you're walking away from me, you can think again! I-I can't let you go, please." The last part was more softer, he sounded and looked so vulnerable. My heart seized in my chest.
"Just go, please." Tears fell and I wanted so bad to take those words back. I wanted to wrap him up in my arms and believe him, trust him. But my mind was struggling.
"Fine! You can have each other!" Confused, I stared after him as he walked away, but then I realised Hunter was behind me. He thinks we like each other? Hunters sweet, good looking, but I don't like him the way I like Mason.
Hunters hand fell onto my shoulder. "Are you okay? What happened?"
"I don't know, I really don't know anything anymore." It was true. I didn't. My heart and mind were in the middle of a feud over Mason Leighway, and my body was supporting my heart. I had no idea what to do.
One minute I'm willing to risk all, take a chance on us, but then the next minute I'm too scared because of something I've heard or seen. Hearing those words come from Harry's mouth, made me sick. I didn't need to be played or used, I'd been treated like nothing before; I wasn't about to let it happen again.
"Let's get you home." He turned me towards his little red car, me shaking in his arms while tears gushed. I was in for a rough night and the next morning would be just as bad, or if not, worse.
