I could not believe my eyes when I the body lying there in the morgue. Here laid the body of my best friend. Life without her is not going to be the same, I shall miss her greatly. I walked out of the morgue, remembering Mary as the tears were flowing.
Mary was born here in Lancy. She had a happy childhood. She was raised by her grandfahter. There were many times, I remember when we got into trouble as a pair and the whippings we got because of it. Our favorite spot to play was in the field across the road from our homes. We spent hours playing there during the weekends. With cinamon red hair flowing behind her reminded me of a roan horse racing against the wind. My apperts and her grandfather agreed on one subject about us 'Look to find trouble and you'll fine our red heads near by!'
Ye, Mary and I were red heads. We were a pair in schoo. Most of the boys had a devil of a time with us. It wasn't because they couldn't tell us apart but that were were alike in many ways. We stood 5' 5" in height. I as slimmer compared to Mary, but she had a personality about her that wouldn't quit. There were times when it got her into more trouble than I got into with mine.
When we graduated high school, Mary and I went our separate ways. I stayed in Lacy to work in one of our local fatories. mary went into the service. We kept in touch through the years.
This story is not about me but about Mary and what lead up to her death.
Who am I? My name is Margaret and best friend to Mary.
