Chapter 4- The Sleepover and the Rapist

The Sleepover at Nikki's

We enter Nikki's house and I throw my purse on the couch to my left, wondering into the kitchen and setting all the things down. " Hey, Melanie, come help with the door. Please" I hear Nikki scrambling in the house with loads of bags in her hands. Running over to the door, I hear my phone ring, " Shit" I say and run over to the couch. " Uh, hey, I'm walking here, geese." I ignore Nikki and grab my phone, " Hello?" I answer, I hear someone breathing on the other end, talking to another person.

" Hi Melanie, I just wanted to say I'm sorry, for everything." I look at the caller ID and it's anonymous. " Um, who is this?" I ask. " It's William, or Will, the guy at the party, the-" I cut him off, " Why did you do it? I don't even know you, How'd you get my number?" I demand into the phone, " Hey, who's that?" Nikki asks, walking into the living room, I hold my hand up, signaling her to shush.

" Look, Mel, I didn't mean to, it just happened, It was an accident, I'm sorry, please, just let me ex-" I take the phone and throw it towards the wall, the phone smashing into pieces. " What the hell!" I hear Nikki screaming. I just stand there, the world dizzy, Will's face every where.

" Melanie?!" I hear Nikki's voice, but I don't see her, I don't see anything, it's all in a blur. " What happened, who was on the phone?" Nikki asks so many questions, and my head can't contain them all, " Shut The Fuck Up! Gosh Nikki your so nosy, wanting to know everything, get the hell away from me!" I yell at her. Nikki steps back and sighs, walking away. I assume she's in the kitchen putting the things away. I get up slowly hoping to regain my balance, I get up and walk to the wall, where my phone is at, in a million of pieces.

Nikki walks up to me, " You calmed down yet or do I have to go again?" she asks, looking at me with dark green eyes, I nod, " Yeah, sorry about what happened, I didn't mean any of that I was just-" Nikki pulls me into a hug, her perfume mixing with mine. Sighing " Thanks for being there for me" Nikki smiles, her white teeth showing, her brunette hair flowing.

I walk into the kitchen to find the broom. I find it and sweep up my mess, putting it all in a bag. Nikki walks into the kitchen pulling out some tea, " Why are you putting that into a plastic baggy?" Nikki looks at me weird, while pouring herself some tea, " Because if you show your phone company this, they can either replace it or you can get a upgrade for free." I reply. " Oh, so can I break my phone? That way I can get a upgrade too?" I laugh, knowing she's joking with me.

" Well, you could try, but don't blame me if they don't give you another phone" I reply back. I hear a knock at the door, " I'll get it" I yell, that way Nikki can hear me. I run over to the door, looking at the mirror to check my face. I open the door and gasp.

" Hi Melanie" I look at Will, and he's standing there, leaning against the door with a cigarette in hand. I stare at him, my mind blank, not knowing whether to tell Nikki or keep it to myself. " Look, can we just talk? I'm not going to do anything, Nikki can stand here to be your bodyguard, I don't care, I just wanna tell you something." I still don't know what to do though.

" What do you want?" Will gets this surprised look on his beautiful face. " Oh, you don't need your girlfriend? I mean, apparently last time I tried talking to you, Nikki had to save you" Will says, teasing me. " Well, actually, Will, I was fine, and then you grabbed me, threatened me that you'll find me again." Will smiles a sexy smile, showing a little bit of his teeth.

" Hey, who is it?" Nikki asks, coming up from behind me, " Oh its-" Nikki opens the door all the way, letting the breeze come in, " Will!" She says, gasping. Nikki looks at me and I look at Will, breathing out the smoke, slowly and calmly. " Melanie, why is Will here?" Nikki asks, folding her arms, I begin to reply, but Will beats me to it, " Oh, see I came to talk to Mel, I told her to tell you, but she refused, so here I am, still standing, *sigh* still getting what I want" Will says looking at his cigarette.

Nikki looks at me, " What does he want Melanie?" I shrug my shoulders. Nikki walks away, going to the kitchen, " Well, what do you want?" Will signs me to come out more, the bright moonlight shining against Will's face. " Look, I have some answers for you, I know things that you don't" I stare at him, not understanding what he's saying.

" What do u mean you know things that I don't, you know nothing about me, nothing. Not my parent's and not me." I say, walking back inside, watching my back, " See that's the thing that drives me crazy! I start to say something, and you say it's not true, you say it's not ever gonna happen. You have no fucking clue what I'm going to say! Gosh your so jumpy, always assuming!" I turn around and Will has his hands on his hips, breathing heavily, looking down at the ground.

I walk towards him, face to face with him, Will towering over me by a few inches. " FIne Will! What the hell do you want, what do you know about me that I don't?!" I yell at him, getting in his face. Will dones't back up, he stands his ground, looking at me, studying my face.

" Let's get one thing straight, you yell at me again, and I will smack you, I hate smacking women, especially pretty ones." Will looks into my eyes, his eyes dark and cold, I back down, lowering my ground. " If you go into your attic, you will find some old family photo's, you will find a un known stranger there with you. The reason I know this, your parent's use to be really good friends with my parent's, untill I started going my way, your parent's thought I was a horrible influence on you. So they left, and that's the last time they've talked to my family and I." I look at the ground, not wanting to listen.

" my parent's were right, you are a bad influence." I say whispering and walking away. I look behind me, and Will lights another cigarette, " Just take the chance, it'll change your life" Will says, " Whatever!" I holler back, not caring.

" What'd he want?" Nikki asks, standing by the window, " Have you been watching us?" Nikki nods, closing the curtains and walking towards me, handing me a glass of water. : What'd he want?" I take a sip of the water and set it down on the glass coffee table. " He wanted to tell me that he knows things about me and my life that I don't know." Nikki chuckles, " Ha, yeah right" I look at her, a blank expression on my face.

I look at Nikki, and tell her everything.

" So, do you wanna watch a movie?" Nikki asks, jumping on the water bed, " Sure. how about Mean Girls?"" Nikki laughs, and puts the movie on. " Do we have everything?" I ask, " hmm, let's see, Popcorn, check, ice cream,check,pizza,check,candy and chips, check, blankets, check,pillows,check,and my phone, check." I look at her and she starts giggling. We watch the movie and talk about boys, and Will ( I didn't bring it up).

Eventually we fall asleep.
