The day after their arrival, Nishikata and Takagi had planned to go sightseeing. They had arrived in Los Angeles, since there were nice beaches and scenery. They went to Venice beach, were Takagi had packed a picnic, but first they went for a walk down the beach. As they walked, Takagi teased Nishikata, as always. They arrived at a relatively quiet spot and sat down.

NISHIKATA: "Takagi, this food is delicious!"

TAKAGI: "Thanks! Anyway, do you want to go splash about in the sea?"

NISHIKATA: "Takagi, we're adults now."

TAKAGI: "Please?"

NISHIKATA: "Fine, I guess neither of us really ever grew up."

So they went to the sea and splashed about, attracting a few gazes but not lots.

They still needed to buy some groceries, so they went shopping. After about an hour, they checked out at $225, which confused them until they remembered that dollars were different to yen, so they were paying about ¥22500, add the exchange rate.

When they got home that night, Nishikata crashed onto the couch, even though it wasn't that late. Takagi ate some dinner and then also went to bed.
