Castiel sat on Dean's desk in his office. He watched Dean as he worked. He observed Dean's lack of personality. He suggested, "Let's go see your folks. You seem stressed, baby. You need a break from work."

Dean continued looking through paperwork and nodded, "Yeah, yeah, sure."

Castiel leaned inward in front of Dean's face. Dean grinned and Castiel spoke, "You didn't hear a single word I said, did you?"

Dean cupped the side of Castiel's face and pulled him into a kiss. When he pulled away he stated, "Nope. Didn't hear a single word you spoke."

Castiel chuckled, "I asked if you want to visit your folks. Ya know, get away from the stress work is giving you."

Dean sighed, "Garth has been giving me so much paperwork to fill out. He wants every microscopic detail of every crime scene. Even ones from years ago. He's been on the job for two weeks now and is already asking so much of me."

Castiel rubbed his arm and comforted, "It's okay, baby. Come on, take a little break with a trip to see your folks."

Dean reminded, "My 'folks' are dead. What about your parents?"

"You know I don't speak to my parents, but I meant your brother, his wife, and their son," Castiel voiced.

Dean loved his brother, but he wasn't much for seeing him. Ever since he started killing, he wanted Sam as far away from him as possible. Dean hesitated, "I don't know if we should."

Castiel stuck out his bottom lip and pouted with his sad drooping puppy eyes. Dean rolled his eyes and pulled Castiel onto his lap. He agreed, "Fine, we can go. Get Alfie from Charlie and I'll call Garth."

Dean spun the telephone dial to the corresponding number that was written on a piece of paper Garth gave him. After talking to the operator, Dean was put through to Garth. Garth spoke, "Hello?"

Dean cleared his throat before speaking, "Hello, it's Detective Winchester on the line. I was wondering if it'd be okay for Castiel and I to take a small leave of absence to visit my brother."

"Dean, hello! I don't see why not. I've been giving you a lot of work lately and I apologize for that. While you take your leave, I think I might take some work off too and visit my grandmother. She's a bit sick," Garth replied.

"Thank you, Detective Fitzgerald."

Garth corrected, "Please, call me Garth!"

"Goodbye, Garth," Dean hung up the telephone. He gathered all of his work into a pile to pack into his briefcase. Castiel walked into the room with Alfie in his arms. He stared at the briefcase in Dean's hand. He raised an eyebrow, "You're not taking that with you, correct?"

Dean hesitated, "I was planning on it? I have a lot of work to do still, Castiel."

Castiel shook his head, "No you are not taking that with you. You are going to interact with your brother, his wife, and their son."

"But Cas-"

"Dean," Castiel warned.

Dean sighed, "You're lucky I like you, dreamboat."

Castiel kissed Dean's cheek and agreed, "Yes, very lucky indeed. Now, come on we need to go home and pack."

They carried their things to the car and Castiel quickly told Charlie about their plan to leave. They got into the car and drove home. Castiel slipped his hand into Dean's and smiled at him. Alfie was fast asleep on his lap. Everything was all right.

Dean was losing his touch and losing himself. He hadn't killed in weeks with spending any free time with Castiel and the loads of work he had for his own case. He was afraid Garth might realize it's been awhile, ever since he was assigned to the case. Dean couldn't just kill in Kansas City though. Garth would notice and might figure it out.

He vowed when he returned home, he had to. It was a priority. He missed the feeling, but Castiel made him better. He made him forget and not even need to do it anymore. He loved him with every fiber in his being. It'd kill him if Castiel found out. It was the addiction he needed to keep hidden. His own drug that no one could know about. Some would think that being addicted to an actual drug might be better, but this was a different kind of thrill. It filled in the gaping hole Dean's parents left. John ruined his life and took away the one good thing he had, which was his mother. Yes, he still had Samuel, but every time he looked at him he was reminded. He was reminded of the day it all happened, the day that changed his life forever.

He killed for a reason. Everyone has a motive for doing something and Dean had so many reasons. Castiel made him forget, made him love again. This time the only reason he would kill is because he had to. Yes, he missed the feeling, but he was more worried that they would take him away from the one thing that matter most which was Castiel and Alfie. He wasn't afraid of jail, he'd live unless they gave him a death sentence. Either way he'd rather die than be forced to leave the one good thing in his life....

He planned on marrying him one day. They were young and in love. Castiel had completely gotten over Daphne. Dean helped with that. He planned on marrying Dean too. He was even thinking about telling Alfie when he's old enough that Dean is his father. He had no intention of telling Alfie about his mother. Ever since they met Dean has been a much better parent than Daphne has ever been. They had so many plans for their future together. They only knew each other for a few months, but it wasn't hard to see their chemistry and see how much they loved one another.

Samuel had noticed it as well as Charlie and just about anyone else who paid the slightest bit of attention to the couple.

Dean stood in his room, packing a suitcase and Castiel was home with Alfie packing for two. Dean had to drop him off at his house. They always complained about living in separate locations, hinting at moving in together. They always stayed at either Dean's house or Castiel's home. They didn't sleep separately anymore, always together. Dean even had a crib and high chair at his house for little Alfie.

Dean was now used to the schedule and perfectly timed pattern of caring for an infant. Six o'clock in the morning Alfie rang like an alarm clock with his crying. Dean would put his hand on Castiel's chest as a gesture to say he has it. He'd walk into Alfie's room and immediately hold him in his arms doing two things at once. He'd be making a bottle of milk for him and change his diaper at the same time. Then, they'd go downstairs together where Dean would put on a Frank Sinatra album, All This And Heaven Too was Alfie and Dean's favorite song.

Dean would feed breakfast to Alfie and make breakfast for Castiel and himself where they would then both eat in bed together. It was a wonderful daily routine.

When Dean was done packing, he packed a few more things for Alfie and then got into his car to drive to Castiel's home.

Dean wasn't particular excited to see Samuel, since all he wanted to do was keep their distance. He tapped his thumbs anxiously on the steering wheel. The only reason he agreed was to make Castiel happy and have a little getaway together. He arrived at Castiel's home and pulled into the driveway. He smiled at Castiel holding Alfie in his arms on the porch. Dean quickly got out of the car to give them both a kiss on the cheek and to help carry their suitcases to the car.

All luggage was stored in the back seat and Castiel sat up front with Alfie in his arms. He lace his fingers with Dean's and spoke, "I have a good feeling about this trip."

Dean swallowed hard, unsure if he could agree with him.

*I apologize for this chapter. I feel like it was extremely boring. Maybe next chapter will be better.*
