Dean straightened his tie and brushed his suit off to assure no wrinkles. His hand patted his hair to make sure it was all in place. He was a little nervous and shaky. He was almost never nervous. Dean came to the conclusion it's because of Samuel and Castiel's presence. He walked into Johnny's Tavern and took a seat at an empty table in the corner of the room. He checked his watch. It was seven o'clock on the dot. He tapped his foot anxiously as he stared at the doorway.
He walked over to the bar after a few minutes. The bartender wore a red bow tie and red suspenders that stood out over his white button down and black suit pants. Dean stared at him and chuckled a little. The bartender raised an eyebrow, "What's so funny, Dean?"
Dean was a regular here. Dean leaned against the bar, "Nothing, Johnny. Can I get a scotch, neat?"
Johnny nodded, pulling a glass out and filling it up only a quarter. Dean felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned around to see Castiel standing before him. Castiel opened his arms for a hug, but Dean held out his hand for a proper handshake. Castiel excepted it and shook his hand, slightly embarrassed.
Dean smiled, "So, what's cooking, Castiel?"
Castiel leaned against the bar and asked for what Dean had. He looked back at Dean, "Well, I found someone to watch over Alfie at last minute. Which is your assistant, Charlie. It's just nice to get out of the house without bringing him along. I'm really buzzing though!"
Johnny slid Castiel's scotch across the counter. He took it and the two walked back to Dean's corner table together. Dean asked, "When was the last time you got out?"
Castiel took a sip, "Maybe a few months?"
Dean rubbed his forehead, "Dear God, Castiel, we need to go on a bender tonight. I won't settle for anything less, Fuddy-Duddy."
Castiel smiled, "Hey, I am all yours tonight."
Dean added, "And Samuel's, my brother, he's supposed to be arriving as well."
Castiel's smile faded. He had thought this was more of a date. Dean hadn't even thought twice about taking Castiel on a date. Samuel walked inside, towering over everyone like the big moose he was. Dean stood up and hugged him, "Hi-de-ho, Samuel!"
Samuel hugged back, "What's happening, Dean!"
Dean introduced Castiel, "Samuel, this is my friend, Castiel and Castiel, this is my brother, Samuel."
They shook hands. Castiel said, "Nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you as well," Samuel returned.
Samuel walked to the bar to get a drink. Castiel offered, "I can leave if you'd like?"
Dean looked at him confused, "Why would I want that?"
"You are obviously reuniting with your brother. I would be nuts to interrupt that," Castiel replied.
"You aren't? Is there something else you're not telling me," Dean questioned.
Castiel stood up and shook his head, "I can't believe I had the nerve to think that this might be a date."
He began leaving. Samuel returned to the table and asked, "Where did Castiel go?"
Dean stared at the door and watched him walk out. He said to Samuel, "I'll be right back."
He ran outside with a gust of wind hitting his face, nearly knocking his hat off. Dean saw Castiel get into his car. He jogged over to the car and opened the door to get inside. Dean said out of breath, "I didn't think this was a date. Not because you aren't a dreamboat because you are, but because your fiancé was just rubbed out a few days ago. I also assumed you were into women, not men."
Castiel stared at his steering wheel, "I know, maybe that's also why I'm leaving-because I was scared. I'm bad at this dating thing anyways."
Dean smiled a little, "This isn't a date, okay? Trust me if it was I'd treat you a whole lot better. This is just a few friends having a drink because you don't got the kid tonight, got it? If you ever want a piece of this pie and you're ready to get back in the game, just tell me. I'd be honored to take a handsome fella like you to dinner and go bopping."
Castiel smiled and exclaimed, "I'd love that another time. Now, let's go on a bender!"
They got out of the car and walked inside together. The three of them sat at the corner table and drank the night away with their neat scotches. Castiel slurred, "Y-you two are my best friends, y-ya know that?"
Samuel had his arm around both Castiel's and Dean's shoulders. He stuttered, "Th-this is my favorite brother-" he hiccuped, "-my only brother. And you sir, are my b-best fri-end."
Dean looked at how much of a mess the two were. He shook his head, "You two cannot handle your alcohol. Unless somehow I'm doing it wrong."
Castiel poked Dean's abdomen, "You're doing it wrong, Mr. Bender."
Samuel agreed and hiccuped, "Yeah, Mr. Bender!"
Dean rolled his eyes, "Okay, time to go home."
They both protested. Castiel whined, "I don't wanna!"
Dean left a tip. Then, basically dragged them both into his car, holding a tight grip on their wrists. As soon as the car started, the two men were out cold. Dean sighed, "Just kill me now-oh wait that's my job."
He chuckled to himself and then, drove down the road to Castiel's home. He exited the car and knocked at the door for Charlie to answer. She smirked, "Did you make a pass with dreamboat yet?"
Dean rolled his eyes, "Stop ragging me and help me get them inside."
The two worked in lifting both Samuel and Castiel into the house. Charlie held the head and Dean held the legs. The two drunk men laid in the middle of the rug. Dean approved, "Good enough. Thanks, Charlotte."
She rolled her eyes, "Charlie and hubba hubba, you got two guys in the house."
She nudged him with her elbow. He lightly pushed her, "Charlie, he's my brother."
She taunted, "And your lover."
He escorted her out of the house, "Thank you for watching, Alfie, much obliged."
She held her hand on her hip and commented, "You're capable of taking care of a baby yourself? Since the two drunken knuckleheads aren't going to be able to."
Dean looked at the two, a complete intoxicated wreck. Then, Alfie began crying loudly.
Dean sighed, "Take care of that damn infant, Charlie."
She grinned, "A please will do."
He gritted his teeth and said rather harshly, "Please."
She walked back inside and comforted him sitting in his high chair. Dean shut and locked the door. He met Charlie in the kitchen and commented, "You're like the little sister I never wanted."
She laughed, "Aw flattering won't get you anywhere."
Dean pressed his fingers to his temples and rubbed circles. She got him a glass of ice water, "Here, have this, Dean."
Dean glared at her and chugged the water. She held Alfie in her arms and gently bounced him up and down to calm him. Dean smiled, "You're pretty good at that for being a horrible human being."
She patted his Dean's back, "I only like messing with you, boss. It's how I show I care."
Dean scoffed, "Funny way of showing it."
She kissed his cheek, "You'll get over it."
