Monday morning and I'm getting ready to go back to this hell hole. I might be academically smart but I hate school so much. I get out of bed and make my way into the bathroom where I have a shower. I quickly blow dry and curl my hair before getting dressed. I pulled out some black jeans and then a grey hoodie. I do my eyebrows and mascara today before heading downstairs.
"Good morning" I say smiling as I hop down the stairs. "Morning sweetie" Victoria says handing me breakfast. I sit down when I feel a kiss on the crown of my head. "You look beautiful" my mom says and I smile."Thank you" I say and continue to eat my breakfast. "Straight home from school" Chris says when Allison stands up from the table. "Yeah" Allison says and sighs. "You ready" she asks. I down my orange juice and quickly say goodbye to my mom, Chris and Victoria before following Allison out to the car.
"How are things between you and Scott" I ask and she nods. "They're good" she says with a massive grin. "I'm happy you're happy" I say and she smiles.
"Maybe we should hit you up with someone. I have Scott and Lydia has Jackson, you don't have anybody" she says and I shrug. "It doesn't bother me, I haven't been here that long" I say and her eyes widen. "Come on" she says and I shrug. "So many guys find you attractive. Who wouldn't look at you" she says and I roll my eyes. "I just don't want to get attached, who knows how long we'll actually stay here" I say. "Come on Clara, this isn't like you. What's wrong?" She questions glancing over at me. "Nothings wrong its just, it's taking me a little longer to adjust" I say keeping my head on the window as we drive to school.
"Good morning girlies" Lydia says walking over to us. "Oh not your best outfit" Lydia says looking down at my outfit. "I don't really care" I say and Allison giggles. "Come on" she says and we head in.
We stay at Lydia's locker as she re applies her lip gloss. "You know Anderson keeps staring at you" Lydia says turning around. "Whose Anderson" I ask and she shrugs. "I only know him by his surname, he's on the lacrosse team" Lydia says and I shrug. "Go talk to him" Lydia says and I shake my head. The first bell rang basically saving me as me and Allison hurried to home room.
The day dragged really slowly and eventually it was lunch time.
"The what of who" Lydia asks with her fork as Allison tries to explain something about out family heritage. "The beast of Gevaudan. Listen" Allison says and starts reading from the book.
"A quadruped wolf-like monster, prowling the Auvergne and South Dordogne areas of France during the year 1764 to 1767. La Bete killed over 100 people, becoming so infamous that the king Louis XV sent one of his best hunters to try and kill it." Allison says glancing between us both. "Boring" Lydia says.
"Even the church eventually declared the monster a messenger of satan." Allison says and I sigh and take a bite of my food. "Hmm still boring" Lydia says and takes a bite of her food.
"Cypotozoologists believe it may have been a subspecies of hoofed predator, possibly a mesonychid." Allison says. "Slipping into a coma bored" Lydia says falling back into her chair. "Seriously, what do you have to think about this" Lydia asked me. "Well if Ally wants to become totally obsessed with this then let her." I say shrugging.
"While others believe it was a powerful sorcerer who could shape shift into a man-eating monster." Allison says. She's already obsessing over this I can just tell. "Any of this have anything to do with your family?" Lydia questions. "This." Allison says before taking a pause.
"It is believed that La Bete was finally trapped and killer by a renown hunter. Who claimed his wife and four children were the first to fall prey to the creature." Allison says. Lydia furrows her eyebrows and looks from me to Allison. I just shrug my shoulders and continue to eat.
