A Determined Soul

chapter 4

I wake up early and get ready. Once I'm done I head to the dining hall for breakfast then the throne room to meet sans and papyrus for their assignment. I enter the dining hall and grampa is there. I sit next to him and start eating.
"I'm very proud of you Lana." Grampa says smiling at me. "You've spent so much time learning more about our guards than everyone, even me!" He continues laughing at the last part and me smiling.
"Thank you grampa, but I'm just looking out for my family, I don't want anyone to get hurt." I say, even though I'm happy.
"Either way you have much potential Lana don't give up" Grampa says as we finish our food.
"I won't!" I say as I stand, "let's go greet the brothers" I wrap my hand in his and we both start walking to the throne room. We are early to the throne room so grampa sits on his throne and I sit next to him reviewing the notes and information about the brothers.
A few hours pass and the main door to the throne room open, I stand holding their papers and grampa sits up straighter. The skeleton brothers enter and bow before grampa.
"Your majesty, you called for us?" Sans speaks being formal.
"My granddaughter has an assignment for both of you" Grampa says to them and they look up confused as I stand off to the side studying both of them.
"Grandfather both of them are very strong, though one is lazier than the other they both are perfect fit for the assignment" I say as I continue to study both of them.
"May I ask what the assignment is?" Papyrus  asks.
"You two will guard princess Ella and prince Ethan" I respond to his question." Both of you have what's necessary to protect them both" Tell them. Both brothers are now focused on me as I explain what is expected of them.
"... If anything happens, report to me or grampa" I finish as Ella and Ethan enter the throne room.
"Perfect timing children! These are your new guards sans and papyrus" Grampa introduces them. They set along really well so I know I made the right choice here. I excuse myself and head towards the training grounds for the routine training,then lessons. On my way to lunch I bump into father in the hallway.
"Good afternoon father," I say as I walk up to him.
"Good afternoon Lana, I heard you did a good job this morning with sans and papyrus. I'm proud of you" He tells me as he pats my head.
"Thank you father, may I walk to the dining hall with you?" I ask hoping he will.
"Of course, that would be lovely" He responses holding my hand as we walk together. Lunch was really fun, everyone was joking and having a good time. It's times like these that I love the most, everyone here happy and safe. After lunch I went to my afternoon lessons, the ones I actually like. When I enter my teacher isn't there…. But there is a trail of ink. I'm confused, should I follow? Or should I get the guards? Where does the ink lead?
