I watched the hands on the clock tick until the bell rung. I sprung out of my seat excited to get out of that class. Math was always my weakest subject when I first started school and it still was years later.

I stopped at my locker to get books for my theatre class when I heard the beat of a Dababy song. I tippytoed and saw it was that stupid boy who carried that big speaker in his bag everyday.
Sometimes I really hated this school.

"Hey Zyra" some girl told me as I closed my locker

"Wassup" was all I said and headed to theatre.

This week marked a month since school started and I was slowly falling back into my school routine. I woke up at 7:30 got ready, came to school, left for lunch, went home and repeated the unsaid schedule everyday.

I sat in my seat while my teacher was talking to a boy in our class. I took out my phone until the class started.

"Excuse me Mr. Francis, Pricipal Moss needs Zyra Green in the office immediately" I heard someone say from the door

My teacher nodded at me so I packed my bag and walked to the Principal's office. I knew for a fact I wasn't in trouble so I just wanted to know what I was called for.

I knocked on her door as she motioned for me to come in

"Good Morning Zyra, how are you" she smiled

"I'm fine"

"Good good, well you're probably wondering what you're doing here today right"

no duh😒

I just nodded my head

"Well Zyra, let me put it like this. The board doesn't have the resources right now to fund your club"

It took me a while to understand what she was saying and when I did, I was flabbergasted. She gave me the hardest time last year when I started my club so this wasn't unexpected.

"With all disrespect Principal Moss the only resource my club needs from the board is a classroom for one hour after school"

She swallowed before speaking, "I understand Zyra but we just can't afford that right now"

"You can't afford to keep the lights and central air on for one hour but you'll let the gym run for two plus hours for a practice" I said, irritation clear in my voice

"Well our sports teams have sponsors that help us with the gym" she folded her arms

"You know if you're racist just say that Ms. Moss" I said making her gasp
