~Haru's POV~

"Shhh, Yuuki. It's Haru. I'm going to get you out of here."

She started to tremble in my arms and I could feel my shirt dampen with her tears. She reached up and wrapped her arms tightly around my neck.

"Please," She said softly, "I know I have no right to ask. Especially with how I treated you today. I don't even know who you are really or how you found me but please, I'm with you. Get me out of here."

She lifted her head up and looked me with pleading eyes. Her face was stained with tears and her eyes were puffed up and red. I could tell she was pleading with everything she had. I had so many questions. So many thoughts ran through my head.

Now is not the time, Haru. You have to get her out of here. NOW.

"Alright, Yuuki. You can count on me. We're getting out of here."

I picked her up and stood up, heading back toward the window I came through. As I pushed it back open I heard footsteps above us. Yuuki suddenly tensed up then climbed out of my arms pushing me back.

"Yuuki?"

She pointed towards the window, "Go Haru. Go now."

"Are you crazy? I can't leave you here with him!" I whispered loudly.

"You don't even know me, Haru!" She said harshly. "If you stay here he'll kill you!"

"And what about you?" I urged. "I just saw someone who is suppose to love and protect you drag you by your hair and lock you in a freezer that I am pretty sure was set to a higher freezing temperature than it should be!"

She rolled her eyes, "I'll be fine."

I looked at her dumbfounded, "Are you fucking kidding me? Just five minutes ago you were trembling and begging me to get you out of here! Why the sudden one eighty personality change?!"

Yuuki flinched and stepped backwards. More stomping was heard up stairs heading towards the basement door. She reached around herself and grabbed her arm looking down at the floor.

You're scaring her, Haru. This must be hard on her.

I signed, "Look, I just don't understand what's going on at all!" I threw my hands in the air, "Every part of me is screaming to get you out of here. Yuuki, I can't ignore what I just saw! I just can't."

"Haru, you have to forget what you saw. You have to leave." She said, tears filling her eyes. "I know my father. Even if you did get me out of here he would hunt us down, kill you and just bring me back."

"And if I leave you here without trying he'll kill you anyways!" I said with frustration.

"No he won't." She said as she brought over a chair to the window. "I'm too valuable to kill. He still needs me around."

I looked at her confused. If she's so valuable why is he abusing her like this? Why would he lock her in the freezer and leave her to freeze over just being late?

~Flashback~

"Haru, you are super valuable to the world, you know. There are so many people who want someone like you. You must always be careful not to let anyone else know about you."

"But how come, mom? You know about me and you always take good care of me and give me lots of love."

My mother sighed, "Yes, baby, I will always take good care of you and give you all the love in the world, but not everyone is like that."

"What do you mean, mom?"

"Well," She picked me up and placed me in her lap, "There are a lot of bad people in this world that would use and abuse you, Haru. You are a special. You're like a rare moonlit rose in the middle of a garden. Everyone wants to pluck you and either use your beauty for power or sell you for money."

"But why? Mom, I don't understand. You can't just use people for power and money, right?"

"I know this, sweetheart. I also know this is hard for you to understand right now. You're so young. The best was I can say this is that specials are treated one of two ways. They are either loved and protected by their families or used and abused. There's no in between."

"Why would someone abuse us?"

"Out of fear, sweetie. A lot of humans react with fear when it comes to the unknown. No one in this world has been able to figure out how specials came to be."

I hugged my mom, "Don't worry, mom! One day I'll be strong enough to protect myself and all the specials!"

~End of Flashback~

"You've got to be kidding me.." I mumbled under my breath staring wide eyed at Yuuki. "You're just like me, aren't you?"

"What?" She asked confused.

"You're a special."

-BOOM-

The basement door suddenly slammed open and we were standing face to face with the man who caused Yuuki so much pain.

And all I could feel was rage taking over my entire being.
