Chapter 29
April

A few days ago.

The past few days have been a joyful rollercoaster. I was almost getting used to coming home to meet him until this morning because he would be going back to his place tonight. The selfish part of me wanted to make him permanent residence at my place but I had to be considerate.

My mum accepting Jordan wholeheartedly because she trusts my judgment was one of the major highlights. I know it'll take more time for her to accept Jordan fully and all I just have to do is wait until then. I trust Jordan not to mess things up and she trusts me.

"I'm sorry Megan" I faked pity with my voice as I used my shoulder to secure the phone properly on my ear whilst going through the bulky folder on my desk.

"You know Vanessa is still out of town and yet you shoved me aside for Mr boyfriend"

"You know what? How about we do Movie night today?" I suggested.

"What about Jordan? I don't want to be the third wheel" She whined and I chuckled.

" Jordan won't be around. It's just going to be the both of us at my place watching movies of your choosing"

"Why tonight?"

I stopped what I was doing to quickly decide whether or not I should tell her the truth.

"Actually" I cleared my throat to say the inevitable. "I'll be going over to Jordan's tomorrow for the weekend"

"April!" She yelled "Honestly I'm not even going to say anything" she paused "maybe one thing. Is he that good?"

"I'm not sure I should be discussing my sex life with you Megs" I joked.

"Fine. Movie Night, your place at nine and April, tonight's on you"

"Yes ma'am. I promise to be a good host.

We said our goodbyes and then I hung up to laugh even more.

PRESENT DAY

Jordan

I am the worst man on earth. I crash the glass full of liquor on the wall as the reality of where April could be became more blurry to me. I'd wanted to chase after her but knew I had to deal with Belcarlis first and by the time I got downstairs, she was gone. I mean her car was there and belongings but I could not find her.

It's been three days and I'm losing my mind with every passing second.

"Any update?" Belcarlis said as she rushed to my living room obviously disappointed over the glass fit I just threw.

"You need to stop this nonsense Jordan. How are you supposed to find her if you're not even sober?"

She was right and it made me hate myself even more.

"I know all of this is my fault and I am so sorry Jordan for putting you through this. If I had been in my right senses, I wouldn't have kissed you like that" she went on her knees.

I didn't respond.

"Let's get you sober first" She stormed into the kitchen and returned with a cup of water.

A FEW DAYS AGO

APRIL

"Ok Miss, I'm leaving the office now" I giggled as I ended the call with Megan.

Still wearing a smile on my face, I picked up my bag from the desk and exited my office.

I know I'll be seeing Jordan tomorrow and over the weekend but a second without him feels like hours and hours feels like years. I debated on calling to know whether he's in the office but a part of me wanted to surprise him so I went for the latter.

I excitedly landed on his floor like a child about to see Santa. As expected everyone had closed for the day so there was no one to receive me. I headed straight to his office and was about to open the door when i found it ajar.
My heart flutter when i knew it meant he was still around. I peeped my head to announce my presence but was welcomed by an unsettling sight.

Belcarlis and Jordan kissing.

I stood there for a few seconds and they were still kissing each other.

My heart sank and it made my chest ache, burn, hurt...

I didn't know when I let out a gasp that alerted them of my presence.

"April" Jordan whispered.

I rushed out of his floor and to the parking lot.

A lot of uncertainties popped up in my head. I wanted him to explain and clarify things but when I looked back, it shocked me more that he didn't run after me.

Have I been played? Fooled?

He could have at least respected me enough to give me an explanation. I got into my car and was about to switch on the ignition when someone from the back of my car gagged me with a handkerchief that sent me to unconsciousness.

EARLIER

Jordan

I had just finished Skyping a business associate when Belcarlis walked into my office.

"I knew I'd still find you here" she joked as she took her seat.

"You know me Bel" I smirked.

"Sometimes I think I don't"

"Come on, you of all people should know that's not true"

"If it's not, then why can't you see me?"

"See what exactly" I raised a brow at her and I continued to sort the documents on my desk oblivious of her rising to her feet and appearing in front of me like a ghost. She looked strange except I can't pinpoint what was off about her.

"I have been trying Jordan and just when I thought you'd give me a chance, some girl wins you over all of a sudden"

She was definitely on alcohol. Her eyes gave it away.

"Have you been drinking?" I asked

"What does it matter to you? It's not like you care anymore. You have your arm candy to worry about"

"I'll call.." I aimed for my phone but she slapped my hand away.

"You still don't get it" she scoffed "How am I even supposed to say this without sounding like a moron?" She let out a half-crazed laugh.

She definitely had a lot to drink.

"Jordan" she whispered and leaned forward as if to whisper something into my ear but totally caught me off guard when she kissed me instead.

A gasp jolted me out of the situation and it further gave me a huge blow when i saw April standing and looking at us and then storming out of the office.

"Don't chase her" Belcarlis said as she staggered. She grabbed my arm and leaned on my shoulder.

"We didn't do anything wrong" she continued.

I jerked my arm off her grasp and made for the door.

" I am so sorry Jordan. I didn't mean for this to happen. I've just been everywhere this past few days" she started sobbing and I knew I had to chase after April but not until I deal with Belcarlis first and quick.

I ordered a Uber for her and told her to go home before running after April. I went to her office but she was not there. I proceeded to the parking lot and was thankful to find her car still parked.

The rooftop.

I rushed to the rooftop and still couldn't find her.

Where could she be?
