Chapter 5

Sophie's Pov

Keefe's face falls from his usual cocky smirk to a guilty expression.

"Bee, could we a talk?" Keefe suggests, "In private?"

She nods back with a hope and a blush spread on her face, "Of course!"

They go into a separate room leaving me and Fitz behind. A thick layer of awkwardness hangs over the room. We just kind of sit in silence staring at the ground for a bit until Fitz clears his throat.

"I don't know why this is so awkward, we've been friends ever since you and Biana met." Fitz laughs weirdly.

I giggle, "Yeah, what do you think is happening in there?"

He shrugs, "I'm not sure I want to know. So have you heard anything from Dex? How is he doing?"

"I mean he's on bed rest until Elwin gives him the ok. I've been bringing his school work by and helping him with a few things. Other than that he's doing alright. I think he is just lonely," I assure.

Our conversation is interrupted when a tear stained Biana comes into the room followed by a guilty looking Keefe.

"Sophie let's go watch a movie in the star gazing room!" Biana exclaims.

I nod a bit confused but follow her out the door, we walk up a flight of marble stairs and go into the conservatory. Set up on the floor were pillows and blankets with a screen that lowers down to watch millions of different movies. Biana puts on the movie Isn't It Romantic as background since we have already seen it at least twenty times.

"What happened with Keefe? Are you ok?" I ask pulling her into a hug.

We pull away and tears form in her eyes, "He, he said that he liked someone else. We did the pinch test where I pinched myself to see if you felt it too. You know to see if I was his soulmate. It didn't work. I'm ok though, I mean I'll be ok, after we eat a gallon of ice cream and do a spa day tomorrow!"

"That's perfect! We can invite Linh and Marella and do a birthday celebration instead of going to my house. Then after we will be able to see what my soul mark is!" I squeal.

I surprised myself, I've never really been into the whole soulmate thing. I've been spending way too much time with the girls, they are starting to rub off on me. Biana and I get comfy and snuggle up to watch the movie. The next morning I wake to a very bright room and Biana practically laying on top of me. I carefully remove her arms that are wrapped tightly around my shoulders and wiggle out from under the leg that she has draped around me. One thing that I have learned from many sleepovers at the Vacker's is never wake a sleeping Biana. I stretch a bit and go downstairs to where Fitz and Keefe are eating breakfast.

"You guys are up early," I notice, they never get up before 11.

Fitz laughs, "What are you talking about Sophie? It's like 9:30! I'm surprised you weren't up at your usual time of 5:30."

"Yeah, well Biana and I were up pretty late last night," I respond pouring myself a large glass of coffee.

I have been to the Vacker's so many times I almost live here.

"So, Foster. What were you and Bee squealing about last night? Does it have to do with a very handsome trouble maker?" Keefe questions.

"Ha," I scoff. "No actually I have been spending waaaay too much time with Ms. Princess and Marella. Somehow I was squealing about getting my soulmate mark tomorrow."

Fitz puts a plate at the table and pulls out a chair for me to sit in, "Anyone you are hoping the picture will relate to?"

I blush at the kind gesture, "Not in particular."

"Oh come on Foster! I know that I've only known you for like a day, but you can't lie to me. I know that there has got to be some lucky guy you are hoping to get," Keefe teases.

The comment only makes my face turn more red, "Honestly there is not!"

"Awww, look at her Fitzy trying to be all tough and angry."

"Alright Keefe lay off of Sophie, I'm sure that she was questioned by Biana enough last night," Della defends walking into the kitchen.

"Good morning Della, and thanks," I greet giving her a grateful look.

She smiles back at me, "Of course. Trust me I've delt with Keefe pestering Biana about crushes for years. I know how to deal with him."

Keefe slouches in his chair pretending to be mad, "I'm not that bad."

Biana scoffs from the doorway, "Yes you are."

"Well good morning Ms. Sleeping Beauty I've got to say it is a pleasure to finally see you," Fitz taunts making a breakfast plate up for her.

"Oh come on!" she rolls her eyes. "Hey mom can Marella, Linh, and Sophie stay over tonight to celebrate Sophie's birthday? She is gonna get her soul mark tonight!!"

"Of course, just don't stay up too, too late," Della agrees.

Biana squeals and takes a seat next to me, "We should go shopping today! It will be my gift to you, you can pick out anything you want!"

I cringe but agree, maybe I can find a cute necklace or something. Nothing too fancy of course, just something plain and simple. Biana immediately calls our friends and tells them to meet us at the mall. We get dressed quickly, me in a simple yellow sundress with a fedora, and Biana with an intricate light pink romper. Fitz and Keefe drive us to the front of the mall where we get out and are greeted by the two most energetic people you will ever meet.

"I can't wait for tonight-" Linh starts.

"Are you excited to get your-" Marella interrupts.

"We are going to have the best-" Linh overlaps.

"Who do you think is going to-" Marella buts in.

"Girls!" I yell. "One at a time please!"

They shy away quickly mumbling, "Sorry."

I laugh and take their hands guiding them to the entrance of the mall. First we decided to go to Forever 21 where we pick out matching outfits. After purchasing them we change and find a photo booth were we take a lot of goofy pictures. It has been a tradition with us four to go to the mall and take at least on picture at the photobooth on every one's birthdays. After a while we decided to get something to eat at the food cort. Biana says something about how smoothies are supposed to make your face glow more or something so we end up getting mango smoothies. Our last store that we go to is a place that is very dear to us all.

"Come on!" Biana squeals dragging us into Ruby Jewls.

"Aww, guys remember the first time we came here and all got key and lock necklaces?" Linh remanesses pulling out the two chains from under her shirt.

I giggle remembering the fond memorise, "Of course! I've never taken mine off."

"Come on! Pick something out. I am dying to get home! I have the perfect show for us to watch tonight!" Marella urges.

We all agree to head back to Biana's house, well mantion. The whole car ride home is them singing at the top of their lungs and doing silly dances. As soon as the car stopped moving all of us bolt inside getting ready for a very momentious night.
