Krista's twin sister, Astra, had no magical powers of her own, just the ability to suck them out of others. Making her of no use to Dahlia or Esther so while Astra was thrown out and into whatever family could take her, Krista was raised with her aunt Freya, the only thing she had after her real mother that nor she, neither her lost twin got to know.

In another case, Krista would have grown up to call Dahlia mother but thankfully Freya was present to tell her the whole truth of how she was her aunt and that her real mother was far better than Dahlia could ever be, even if she didn't know of her daughter's continued existence.

Then years and years ahead, Astra found her mother, her real mother whom she had searched the entire world for. Just to find her grieve drinking at a bar with no idea as to who the hell she was. It took time and a hell of a lot of convincing until Natalia could accept that it was true, no dream, that she had daughters, alive and breathing.

Soon the rescue plan worked out and Krista was back in her mother's arms for the first time in forever and reunited with her twin sister. Still, the new world took a toll on her before she started getting used to the new technologies, having an actual family that cares for her and not how she may be of power or use. And a great part of that was the world's first-class survivalist; Matthew Donovan.

He may have not known so, but at that time, he was one of the main reasons Krista pulled herself out of bed every day after all that she had gone through because of Dahlia. She liked his genuineness, honesty, and he was the only breeze of normal in her straight out of a science fiction movie life.

Each day the strawberry blonde encouraged him to fight for people like himself; humans. At the same time, Natalia encouraged her daughter to indulge a normal life and quit things that cause her troubles most; Magic.

That included spending her first summer with her twin sister, seeing every inch of Europe while their mother did try to keep up with the world tour and her relationship with her current girlfriend of two years at the time, Caroline Forbes. However, that was over now. Summer was over and they could easily stroll back into town to deal with the new problem; The Heretics.

Despite Astra being a thousand years old heretic, she wasn't quite much of help when asked about their possible weaknesses, the blonde Mikaelson had only shrugged and claimed that they are that of a vampire and a witch combined but still, they can't hurt them because the miracle of being both is too great to be turned down by vervain.

Among all that mess, Matt was graduating from the police academy, ready to become an official deputy and Krista was the proudest. Dressed elegantly well and sitting in a few seats behind the recent graduates, next to Caroline and Astra as Natalia couldn't be bothered enough to attend. Truth be told, she had never approved of her daughter and Matt, saying that it was too unlikely and Krista would be bored enough to leave him very soon.

"Please join me in recognizing our graduating class of new deputies as I read their names and they receive their badges," The Sheriff started as the soon-to-deputies all stood and walked up to the stage in a single file line.

"Deputy Cornell Willis...," He stated as said graduate received his badge and the crowd clapped for him, except for Krista as she awaited a supposed someone, "Deputy Taylor Hall..."

"Deputy Matthew Donovan...," The Sheriff announced as Matt smiled happily, walking over to the Sherriff and Krista clapped enthusiastically for him along with Caroline whilst the remaining blonde yawned, Astra, she, as well, couldn't be bothered but had to pretend to be so for her twin sister's sake.

Krista smiled, addressing Caroline, "He looks really happy! And it's super refreshing."

"I know right," Caroline nodded beamingly, looking ahead as Matt shook hands with the new Mayor.

Astra huffed out, crossing her arms, "Try boring...how long are we staying here, again?"

"Astra, you promised me," Krista turned to her sister with the meanest glare she could manage.

"And you said it won't be boring,"

"It is not!"

During the twin sister's argument, Natalia and Stefan turned up, the blonde whispering in her girlfriend's ear, "We might have a problem, from your little stroll earlier?"

Caroline frowned as Krista turned to her mother worriedly, out of nowhere all of the lawn sprinklers around the town square's park went off, spraying the veteran deputies and the sheriff onstage with water and forcing many of them to rush away as the audience chuckled in amusement but Krista remained confused, awaiting an explanation from her mother.

"Sorry for the malfunction, folks," The Sheriff apologized, walking off the stage along with audience members in the front row who were all soaked with water.

"What is going on, Natalia?" Krista rose to her feet, questioning as the water from the sprinklers ignited in flames, causing the laughing audience to begin to scream in fear.

"Astra, get your sister out of here, now," Natalia turned to her youngest daughter, ordering before she took off, narrowing her eyes at said heretics who turned the graduation ceremony into a funeral.

Krista scoffed as Astra shrugged, walking up to her, "You must be joking! You can't take them on!"

"Ah...you know what they say...some kid gotta be super nice and sophisticated and another has to be rebellious," The blonde twin rubbed the back of her neck, shrugging once more, "In this case, you are the rebellious one, sis."

"I can't leave him to die!"

"Mother and I will protect him," Astra shrugged, assuring her sister, "You need not worry about the deputy now."

"Mother will be the first to throw him into the fire! She hates him!"

"But she loves you and right now, this place is not safe for you," Astra sighed, pulling her sister away as she kicked away a dark-skinned heretic, "So, for the sake of me," She pleaded to her older sister, punching his face, "Please," The blonde flipped him over and as he landed on the ground with a thud, "Let's just go home."

She turned to Krista who shook her head before flicking her wrist and effortlessly snapping her neck, "I am done letting people tell me what to do and what not."

The strawberry blonde marched forward, raising her arms in front of her as she stopped a few feets beside Matt who had, stupidly enough, thought of protecting himself and the other graduates with a gun, "Why use guns when you have these?"
