"sam? oh god, are you okay? let me help you." he kneeled next to me and caught my shirt that was already wet because of the wet ground. "can you put your jeans back on?" he asked as he took off the red flannel he wore over a black t-shirt. i tried to pull up my jeans while i was still on the ground and sobbing like crazy when i saw the man that was shot get up and run away after michael warned him that he had one minute to escape if he wanted to live.

michael helped me up when i had zipped up my jeans and gave me the flannel so i could cover my torso. "they tried to rape me." i whispered in between tears. "i thought they only wanted to steal from me, but then he told them..." i couldn't finish my sentence because michael tried to wrap me in a hug and i pushed him back. "please don't touch me." i was still scared and i didn't even know him.

"it's okay, i'm not going to hurt you, sam." he gave me a loop sided smile and i shook my head again.

"michael, i don't even know you." i stepped back and he came closer.

"i know, but i just saved you, again. doesn't that make you trust me even a tiny bit?" he laughed, awkwardly scratching the back of his head. it was true, he had saved my sorry ass twice in a span of twenty minutes.

my tears didn't seem to stop flowing, but i smiled faintly to michael and pushed myself on him, wrapping my arms around his waist in a hug. i must have taken him by surprise, since he tripped backwards but thankfully didn't fall.

"i'm sorry for staining your t-shirt with tears." i told him. i had stopped crying thanks to his awful jokes that entertained me for the last couple of hours.

at first, he offered to take me to his place but i wouldn't go to a stranger's place in a city i didn't even know. so i told him to just drop me at my hotel and we ended up sitting in the lounge and he kept sharing bad jokes and funny experiences on dying his hair multiple colours.

"it's okay. at least now you're better." he told me and took the cup of hot chocolate in his hand that he ordered a while ago.

"well, i lost my presentation which would earn me a scholarship to nyu but for now i'm just glad i crossed paths with you. thanks for saving me. twice." i smiled at him as i stood up. i had to have a shower to rinse off the touch of those gross bastards. "i have to go."

"don't leave already. or at least tell me that i will see you again." he stood up as well.

"i have to give you back your flannel anyway." i grinned as i saw his face lighten up.
