Flashback

A group of children is playing outside the orphanage.

Eight years old Jeongyeon is just watching them from afar, wanted to play with them but she's scared. She's still new and ever since she came, no children ever tried to friend her nor talk to her.

They often made fun of her pixie haircut that makes her looked like a boy.

"Hey, can you hand over the ball?" a kid shouted from a distance.

Glancing at her side where the ball rolled, she picked it up and gleefully ran to them. "Can I play with you?" she asked handing the ball to a girl. "No. Go back where you're from, we don't need you here." the girl panned pushing her from the side. "Yes, she can." a boy stepped in giving little Jeongyeon a boxy smile.

"But we don't like to play with her, she's weird." another kid disagreed.

"Jungkook-ah, let's play another game together with her, only the three of us." he pointed at Jeongyeon who is staring at the ground resisting herself from crying.

"Taetae, we like to play with you too." the girl who pushed Jeongyeon pouted.

Taehyung did not listen to them and snatched Jungkook and Jeongyeon's hand then ran.

They stopped running at the back of the orphanage. "Did you see their faces? That's so funny Tae." Jungkook laughed out loud.

Taehyung did not respond and stared at the girl in front of him still bowing her head.

"Hello, my name is Kim Taehyung!"

"And I'm Jeon Jungkook!"

"I'm sorry, because of me they're
mad at you." she mumbled.

"No, don't mind them. From now on you are our friend and we will always be here to protect you. Right Tae?" Jungkook patted her shoulder gave her his bunny smile.

She straightened up and gave them her brightest smile. "Really?

Thank you! By the way Jeongyeon, I'm Yoo Jeongyeon."

A year passed by, no doubt the three of them got along really well. They've been seen sticking to each other all day. They even shared a dream to be a police officer or a soldier when they've grown up. They wanted to save people, they said.

Playing at the back of the orphanage. Jeongyeon was tied up on the tree, while Taehyung and Jungkook played as the Hero and Villain.

"It's time for you to surrender JK!" Tae shouted holding his wooden gun. No response from Jungkook was heard so he shortly went to Jeongyeon and untied her from the tree.

Both of them went inside the orphanage and hid under the kitchen table. "Thank you!" Jeongyeon let out still panting after all the running. "All for you princess."

There and then, she kissed his cheeks. "I love you. I'll let you marry me when we grow up." Little Taehyung blushed and gave her his signature boxy smile. "Pinky promise?" he raised his pinky finger at her and she accepted it. "Yeah, pinky promise."

"AHA! There you are!" Jungkook yelled crouched down joining the two under the table. "Aish! Jeongie I told you I have to pee first. You both left me there." he complained glaring at them.

Tae and Jeongyeon just stared and laughed at him that made Jungkook more annoyed.

After that day, Jeongyeon did not see Tae anymore. She searched the entire orphanage. She halted when she saw Jungkook crying under the tree where they used to play.
