[Second Training Camp - First day]
[8.37 a.m.]
[Shinzen High School]
[Saitama, Japan]Nekoma was the first team to arrive in Shinzen. The school looked a little bit too empty, as the students occupying the dorms mostly went home for the summer break. They were greeted by the Shinzen captain and manager, Ogano Daiki and Outaki Mako. The two Shinzen representatives did a quick tour of the school and showed the classrooms they were going to sleep in. The other schools hasn't arrived, and the Shinzen members were still cleaning some classrooms that were going to be used by the other teams.
Kimi stepped into the familiar hallway. She never thought that she would be stepping foot in this academy anymore, let alone accompanying a volleyball team in a summer camp. She didn't like the thought of being in Shinzen in the first place, the place reminded her of all the pressure she had, and the responsibilities that she ran away from.
However, her heart was beating a little faster because of something else. A small smile made its way to her face as she read the text on her phone.
"You here already? I'm still on duty now. The volleyball boys are a pain in the ass, but I might be able to catch you later at about 4 p.m. Maybe call the Duty Manager's phone for fun? :3
See you soon love."Pfftt. Flirty as usual. She shoved her phone back in her tracksuit pockets, and put down her things in the girls room.
"Did something good happen, Kimi-chan? You're a little bit smiley today I see," Mako teased.
"No, nothing," she chuckled lightly.
"Well, I still have to go back helping the boys cleaning, but feel free to relax for now. I'll call you when it's time to gather up," Mako smiled.
"Um, is the gymnasium open already?"
"Yes it's open. Do you want me to show you the way?"
"No, I'll find it," Kimi smiled at Mako, hiding the fact that she knew the building and the academy all too well, maybe better than Mako who was a second year here. She grabbed her oversized blue jacket, and ran down to the main gym. She opened the door and peeked.
No one. She should've known. Was she disappointed? She didn't know.
She tied her jacket on her waist, looking at the stack of volleyballs in the cart. She pushed it to the end of the court.
Well, she never tried serving before. She probably wouldn't be able to pull off an impressive and powerful jump serve, but a jump-floater seemed pretty manageable.
She took her stance, tossed the ball in the air, and jumped.
-
"Huwooooooo!"
"Hinata you idiot!" two familiar voices broke her concentration. It was probably her 7th serve, and she was only starting to get a good grip on her aim. Kimi turned around, to see Kageyama and Hinata who just arrived at the gym racing each other, staring intensely at the ball she just served. She had aimed at the corner of the court, and her ball looked like it was going to go out of bounds. The ball curved in the end, landed inside the court with a mean trajectory.
"Oooooh it went in!"
"Kawanishi-san, you play volleyball?" Kageyama stared at her, in awe, but competitively.
"I don't. Also, it's Nishikawa. Can I help you, Yamakage-kun?" Kimi stared at him, changing up his name, too.
"Sorry Nishikawa-san! Kageyama is really bad with names," Hinata laughed, smirking at Kageyama.
"Ooh, sorry," he said.
"It's fine. If it helps, my first name's easier," Kimi replied, but Kageyama only stared blankly at her, maybe trying to remember her first name.
"It's Kimi," she said. Hinata laughed even louder, earning himself some insults from Kageyama.
"That's so much easier. Then, Kimi-san," Kageyama said, Kimi nodded.
"That was an impressive jump-floater, have you been practicing?"
"No. By the way, you guys arrived normally this time," she added, remembering the last training camp. Being late, she was the one who had to show them their rooms, hence they had talked for a little, at least. Then again she remembered that they way they raced each other to the gym probably wasn't really normal.
"Well, to a certain extent," she added.
"Yes, we came with the rest of the team. Have they started?"
"No, we've only just arrived a little while ago."
Kimi looked behind Hinata and Kageyama, the whole Karasuno team was walking towards the gym. She looked at her phone to check the time.
