Heavy.
His chest felt heavy."There's no time for anesthesia, please. Kimi, you can do it. You're my daughter," the masculine voice on the phone said.
It's hard to breathe.
"Ki...mi..." he muttered. It took him effort to say those two syllables.
His vision is blurred, but he could see Kimi was in front of him, sobbing.
"Kimoushka, dear, listen. Things are not looking good now...You have to do it before it's too late. Dad will take full responsibility, I..." the voice from the phone sounded desperate.
"Dr. Jun, we have an emergency! Please head to the ER now!" Kimi stared at the phone. The nurse was speaking in German, but of course she understood what it meant.
"Diagnosis, now!" he shouted, sounding distressed. Something that Nishikawa Junichirou never did. The nurse was startled, but she read out the diagnosis, and Jun cussed. He didn't have time for another emergency when his kid's life is hanging by a thread, and the thread having some loose ends."If I don't do it...Kaito...will...die...?" Kimi asked in a low voice, clutching the needle on her hands.
"I'm sorry, dear, please..."
"Please...Ki...mi..." the figure on the floor writhed."Okay," she said, wiping off her tears, clearing her view. She stared at her twin, getting ready.
Don't do it...
"Kaito, this is going to hurt a bit, but bear with it, okay?" she smiled a soft smile. Eyes still swollen and red.
No. No. Not this smile again. No.
He didn't need to be saved, if it was only going to make her cry. He was sorry."Ki...mi..." he said again, weakly.
Don't, he said.
But his voice wouldn't come out.
[Second training camp - Second day]
[06.00 p.m.]
[Shinzen High School - Nishikawa Kaito's dorm room]
[Saitama, Japan]Kaito woke up on his bed, sweat dripping down from his temple.
Too hot. That was his first thought. Summer in Japan is too damn hot. He wasn't even wearing any clothes, yet he still managed to sweat this much. He cursed the dorms for not having air conditioning system, sitting up, he looked at his phone, 06.00 p.m.
He really needed to fix his sleeping schedule. He had been chopping them up and stuffing it wherever it fits in his schedule, especially after Kimi and the volleyball team came to Saitama. Sleeping in the infirmary last night wasn't helping too.
He stood up, he felt like he didn't really have a good sleep. His head hurts. Felt like he just woke up from a long, tiring, wakeless dream. He stood up and looked at his room. Pizza boxes everywhere, onigiri and energy bar wrappers, empty protein shake jars, reference books scattered all over the floor, and his gaming console that he didn't turn off the night before.
He sighed. His whole body felt sticky from his sweat and he felt more tired than before he went to sleep.
He had to get it together. Maybe fix his diet too and eat some real food. Maybe he needed some exercise. Maybe he could eat dinner in the cafeteria with his sister. Maybe then the food he eats will taste good again.
