it was a regular evening when yeosang finally got back from his job, tired out and looking forward to seeing his husband's face when he walked through the door.
he had come home earlier than usual, as his boss was majorly laid back on office hours. but he was about to get the shock of his life as he rounded the corner towards the street his house was on.
the first red flag was the unknown car parked on the driveway. a silvery bmw, nothing he could afford.
it took him a moment to process what this could mean, but he just decided to give seongwha the benefit of the doubt, and parked on the street instead. after all, he could have clients in his office.
then he called seongwha's personal phone as he turned off the ignition, but his heart dropped like lead when it went to voicemail.
the second red flag.
glancing up at the house he could clearly see the lights were on, and that their other car was outside.
at this point he was setting himself up for the worst, and got out of the car and slammed the door. his pulse pounding in his ears, he turned his keys into the front door and entered his home.
as he went to turn up the stairs, he heard muffled sounds from the room along the hallway. slowly travelling across the wooden floor, he looked through the half open door.
his husband was in the guest bedroom with another man. they hadn't even noticed yeosang had come in the house, and the sounds of them together were getting louder and louder.
it felt like a gunshot as the realisation hit him, but when it did he wasn't consumed with sadness. only rage.
without saying a word, yeosang quietly went upstairs. calmly as he could, he found a suitcase and threw all his clothes from the wardrobe into it. he went to the kitchen and grabbed a sandwich, then packed everything into his car. he kept the keys in, with the engine running.
still trying to remain calm, he wrote a note to seongwha in shaky handwriting, and left it where he sat in their living room. then, he stormed through the house and knocked angrily on the guest room door.
"seongwha, it's over. i'm leaving."
a sudden gasp and hurried footsteps came from inside the room, but by then yeosang was making his way to the door. just as he was nearly there a disheveled seongwha grabbed his arm.
"yeosang! i- please! it was only one time!" he pleaded.
"it was one time to many, i've lost all respect for you. how do i even know you're telling me the truth now? how long has this really been going on for? huh?!"
"f-for a few weeks... but it doesn't mean anything! i was being stupid-"
"no, i'm being stupid for even standing here a moment longer. i never want to see your face again."
"please-"
"forget it seongwha. i'm done." yeosang shook his husband off his arm, and slid off his ring. "give this to him, and maybe treat him better."
"yeosang wait! please..."
he was already running out to his car, without bothering to look back at seongwha. taking a deep breath, he drove away from the house. and he just kept on driving, with no destination in sight. he just wanted to leave everything behind.
