Sitting down, I glared at the wooden table. Aries stood behind me, gently pulling up the back of my shirt to check my still healing wounds.

"Well, looks like a couple more days and they'll be nothing more than some pink scars," Aries mumbled as she drifted her fingers across the lashes I received not too long ago.

"These should have healed a month ago," I muttered as she changed the bandages and rubbed some type of medicine of my back. She sighed.

"Considering how bad the slashes were and the fact that you had silver ash thrown into the open wounds that were left to fester for a few days before you were allowed treatment, be grateful it only took about a month and a half to two months for you to heal," Aries whispered.

I remained silent. Not once had I ever heard her raise her voice above a mere murmur. She was quiet, but not a bad quiet. More like she was constantly observing everything around her to make nothing bad happened.

"I have an assignment that I have to do. Will you be coming with me?" I asked, slowing tensing and untensing my back muscles, testing how much movement I would be allowed this time.
A small amount of pride filled me when I notice the pain before was 99% gone. All that was left was the tense and stiffness of new skin that hadn't been worked yet.

Aries shrugged.
"Maybe. Seeing as you're still not cleared to shift yet as the wounds haven't completely scarred, Alpha Jonathan will probably send a Tracker with you to make sure you don't get hurt instead."

I rolled my eyes. "Mhmm."

She sighed.
"Look. You are still the only heir of the Whispering pack. You may be demoted but be glad the Alpha is still giving you your birth right."

Silence fell as I didn't answer her. Yes, I may still have the right to being the future Alpha of the Whispering Pack but that didn't cancel out the fact that I get treated below an Omega all day every day, and there's nothing I could do. I couldn't even defend myself against them. Not without repercussions.

"There's been a rogue traveling around. You will be going up north to the 570 Pack to see if they have any information. While you're also there, give this hard drive to him as well." Alpha Jonathan stated as he walked behind his desk.

I nodded to my father. "What's on the hard drive?" I asked.

He sent me a glare before huffing. "Nothing important. Just information for the upcoming Annual Ball."

I tilted my head in thanks. To be honest, I didn't expect him to share the information with me. Even if it was a simple as that. That's how much of dick he could be. Don't get me wrong. My father could be a good, caring father. But 90% of the time now he was just an unnecessary asshole.

"Ash will be your escort along with Aries since she came from the north. She'll be able to help you in the area." He continued.

My eyes slightly widened. I didn't expect to have my father's beta escorting me across the state. Let alone Beta Ash. Ash was only 19 but he quickly gained respect and rank. We dated for a short period but we didn't want my father to find out and get pissed. He saw what happened to me... So there's no doubt he would do anything to comprise his position or even the skin on his back.

"When do I leave?" I questioned, staring at the wall across from me.

"As soon as you pack your bags. You'll be there for a few weeks because you also have to sit in a few meetings. This rogue is starting to attack closer home and the problem needs to be solved. Soon. You'll leave by night fall tonight."

I nodded and stood up.
"570's Gamma Manson will meet you and the others at their borders. From there, you'll be escorted to their lands and to the camp. I expect good behavior."

I shake my head in a motion, gesturing I understood. Turning in my foot, I went to leave. "Katherine." I paused with my hand on the handle.

I shifted my body and looked over my shoulder. My father stood there with his arms crossed, a steely look in his silver eyes.

"One last thing. Just because you are going to another pack does not mean you are off of your punishment. You will be treated as I assigned. Should I catch anyone treating you as otherwise... you will not like the consequences once you return. Not even your mother could stop me."

A shiver went down my spine.
"Yes, Sir," I whispered before walking out.
