After a shockingly peaceful night of sleep on the couch you and Asriel get up and stretch.
"A-Are you ready, Sam?" He says in an excited but nervous tone. You nod, not saying a word. You were ready, just really unsure of what was to come. "You're just as nervous as me, aren't you?"
You huff, "Yeah... I heard the townspeople talk about us, and I guess I'm just letting it get to me."
He nods smiling reassuringly, "It'll be okay, Sam. Believe in yourself, cause we do.."
You smile at him and walk into the kitchen for some food. Classic, peanut butter toast. Excellent choice, "You know where Sans is?" You ask Asriel.
He shook his head, "Last I saw, he was heading out to the Wishing room in Waterfall."
You are surprised by this, "That was last night! And he's still not back yet?..."
Asriel listens for a second, "Frisk says we should go looking for him." He sighs, "I don't really want him to get hurt.." Unplugging the sacred toaster, you and Asriel rush out of the house and through the snow.
Eventually reaching the said room he was supposed to be in, you peek your head in and see a smaller figure at the edge of the glowing lake, whispers from echo flowers going off quietly around you guys. Stepping forward, you clear your throat, "Sans..?"
He didn't even look at you, *Please... sweetheart... no more resets...*
Asriel steps past you, his eyes not his normal green, but a chocolate brown. It was Frisk, "Sans... you know we made this promise to you..."
Suddenly, he turns, his eye flares to life with bright blue neon tears trailing down his cheeks, *that's exactly what you said last time!!* he growls menacingly, *what's changing that, huh, kiddo?*
At this, they back up a step, Asriel's eyes turned back to green, "Sans.. What's changed is that Sam is here... We know that she's never been in any other timeline before now."
Sans hesitates and huffs, backing off and cooling down his eye, *you're right about that. but that doesn't make it better.. I have a scar from the last time you promised..*
Asriel crosses his arms in front of his chest, "Frisk felt it was necessary to just give up on that. That's why she let Sam remove the LV from her soul."
The skeleton huffs, *right... guess I can't let her work go to waste... Sam... Finish your journey... for me, will ya'?*
You chuckle, your voice softening, "Of course.. I'll come to visit after the Barrier is broken..." I grab Asriel's hand, "Let's go. I'm sure the monsters are anxious to get out of here."
He nods, his left eye changing to that soft brown, "Right! Bye, Sans!"
His smile returns fully, like a weighted shadow was lifted off his shoulders, *bye, kiddos. See ewe later.*
Both chuckle and race off. It didn't take long with Asriel's lead to get through Waterfall itself, though a long the way, we see things that Frisk herself has discovered before, like a room with a piano puzzle in it. And some sort of pattern on the wall.
"Here," Asriel says, starting to play it.
But you stop him, wanting to try it for yourself. The melody that you played sounded like a lullaby, very short and hummable. "That's such a pretty tune.."
"Yeah.. Mom used to sing it too me when I was very young.." A mysterious door opens up beside the piano, "Hey... I don't know if you'll be able to get what's in there... when Frisk tried to get it, some dog ended up nabbing it before her."
"It's okay, this little adventure was fun! Thanks for showing me!" You rush into the room. And a red orb sits on a pedestal with an inscription above it saying, "'Only the worthy may carry this orb.'"
"What? Who's worthy then..?" You whisper to yourself, as you do, the orb glows. You approach it, and it starts to glow the same color as the purple side of your soul. Grabbing it, it seems to have absorbed itself within your soul.
A massive amount of energy flows through you, almost amplifying your magic. "What?!" Asriel says in disbelief, "Frisk couldn't even do this..."
"I... I don't know why it chose me..." You shake your head, and drag Asriel out of the room, "Come on, we can't dwell on it. Are we almost there?"
"Well, it's a bit of a walk, but we should be near a statue of my great-great grandfather. That marks the halfway point of the Underground. Dad had it build for him a long time ago, even before Chara fell."
"Woah..." After more said walking, you and Asriel finally reach the said statue. It was getting wet somehow, as water was dripping from a hole above. How is there light shining through? You shake your head and set the umbrella you got a little while ago in its hands to block off the water, and the same familiar lullaby plays, "Here, too?"
"I don't know why it does that... I should ask Mom or Dad about it when I see them again.." His tone is one of anxiousness and sadness.
Feeling bad for him, you put a hand on his shoulder, "You'll see them both soon, I promise.."
