In a far away village once lived
the beautiful Marianne Gray
and she was always found to be
dancing in the hay

In the howls
In the neighborhood
of ferocious wolves
and proud Grey's
is found the story of Marianne Gray
dancing in the hay

It goes like this
the legend of the beautiful Marianne Gray;
She once went out during the day
to once more play on the hay
in the beautiful barn:
she did.

In the shining light of day
she found a thin' coiled up in the hay.
She lifted it -
to take a closer look at it
for it looked much like a black rope
as it lay unmoving in the hay

It began to uncoil itself,
it lofted its head and bared its fangs,
she tried to Pat it on the head and it bit her on the hand
for innocent Marianne Gray
had not known she picked a snake
as it lay
in the soft,soft hay

She died on that beautiful Summer's day,
She did
but all the birds still sing
along with the beasts of the plains
of the beautiful Marianne Gray
and how such innocence is not to be found
in the world today

As you go about the day
try to listen and you might hear
the birds say
the story of the beautiful Marianne Gray
dancing in the hay.
