Unforeseen Darkness
0200 Hours
Los Angeles, California, USA
Captain Hernandez wandered the streets aimlessly in search of his battalion. His Cross Cam is completely useless as communications is silent and constantly being jammed by strong electromagnetic waves in the city. However since he discovered his "abilities" everything in the city has shifted as he can certainly feel a stronger presence of something more powerful and sinister lurking deeper in the city and around his surroundings. He feels like there's something always watching him and especially the entity in his head.
"Can you feel it," she asks him. "The air has shifted, darkness is growing with power."
"What's up with that," Hernandez wanted an explanation.
"I can't really explain it, but I can feel true power from something very evil and ancient. You might not believe it, but they're coming."
"Who's coming?"
The voice ignored his answer, leaving him slightly frustrated.
He continues to wander the streets until he happens to stop by the command base, which has been destroyed.
"SHIT! The command base was hit hard! Last I saw... they were under attack by something," he thought in his head, readying up his weapon and prepare to face what lies ahead. "I got to keep my guard up because those things... they're not human and certainly not friendly."
He approaches the command base with great caution as he observe his surroundings closely. He stumbled upon the remains of the marines that died there. There was guts, entrails, limbs and skullcaps all over the center of the command base that made him sickening from the sight. The machine gun turrets were operational, but ran out of ammunition from the belts, indicating the base was overrun by great numbers.
Everything was a wreck, communications was offline as well as the tracking display device that tracks the battalion's Cross Cam feed and live signatures. There was plenty of ammunition enough to keep him moving forward and defend the whole base by himself. However he was greatly concerned of the creatures that attacked the base in full force.
"Karen," he asks. "What the hell am I dealing with? What could possibly can do this?"
"Hmmm... very nasty creatures as they usually hunt in packs. But the question is how they ended up in your realm?"
"How the fuck I should know," Hernandez replied.
"Hmmm... somebody or something has been releasing them and... sorry for your loss."
"I'll make sure they get a proper burial when this mission is over. Right now I need to find the rest of my battalion and stop the Black Order from whatever they're planning."
"Tread carefully Captain," Karen warns him for the danger lying ahead. "These are not your average enemy you take kindly. Like I said, they hunt in packs so kill them off quickly before they call more for aid. You should be able to kill them easily with your weapons, but be prepared to fight for your life if you face one in close encounter."
Hernandez did find a couple of dogtags covered in blood as he grabs them and enters the underworld instantly. He jumped in surprise as he looks around and sees Alpha and Bravo Company safe and sound, but they were all faded in color like they were ghosts.
"I did it three times already," Captain Hathaway replied to Delta Company in the radio. "I can only see you and Charlie Company in the screen. Echo Company is gone!"
