Allison's POVWe soon made it into the gym. There was no teacher, where was the teacher? Then we saw a ball of light coming toward us. We ducked, and our eyes followed the light. Wow that was awesome! It stopped at the post it turned out to be a woman. She smiled at us, well at least she was nice. "Goodmorning I am principle powers and on the behalf of all the faculty and staff welcome to sky high", She said with a smile on her lips. "Yeah!". Zach said loudly. Oh brother. I slapped a hand to my face and shook my head. "In a few moments you will go through power placement and your own heroic journey will begin", She said. Wait what's power placement? "Power placement?". Will asked confused. "Sounds facist", Layla said. Only she would think that. "Power placement: it's how they decide where you go", The kid with the glasses said, I think his name is Ethan. "The hero track or the loser track", The girl with the pigtails said. I glared at her. That's not fair to others you pigtailed jerk.
"Th-Theirs a lower track?", Zach said stuttering. Oh god here we go. "I believe the preferred term is hero support", Kid with the glasses said. (Ethan?). ".....now for good deeds and good luck let the adventure begin comets away!", She said. She turned into a comet and left the room making everyone watch her leave. Well I got to admit she's freaking amazing. Then a guy that dressed up as a gym teacher walked into the room. That must be our gym teacher. (Duh)
Oh man he looked pretty tough looking. But I know I can do this. I was always good at gym class.
We stood in front of the gym teacher looking like a bunch of scared lambs. Me not so much. My dads much bigger then the gym teacher and much stronger. "Alright listen up! My name is coach boomer, you may know me as sonic boom, some of you may not, here's how Power placement is gonna work, you will step up here and show me your power and yes you will do so in front of the entire class. I will then determine where you will be assigned hero or side kick. Now every year there are a few students or as I like to call them "whiner babies" who see fit to question and to complain about their placement, so let's get one thing straight, my word is law, my judgment is final, so there will be no whiner babies are we clear?", He said. We all mumbled yes. "I said are we Clear!", He said using his sonic boom voice. Man that's one powerful voice. No wonder they call him sonic boom.
"Yes coach boomer!". We said loudly. He blew the whistle. "It's Go time", He said. Stairs came out of the platform. That is so cool, I already love it here. I wonder if I'll be hero or side kick. "You what's your name?". He said pointing to Larry. He seems like a nice kid, quiet but nice. "L-L-Larry", He said stuttering. "Little Larry get up here", Coach boomer said. Larry walked up the platform shakily. I felt bad for him. He must not like all the attention. "What's humiliating him going to prove anything? This is so unfair", Layla said. That's true. "If life were to suddenly get fair I doubt it would happen in high school", Will said. That's also true. Larry took off his glasses and then he turned into a big boulder like creature. Wow! Don't mess with big Larry. I smiled and clapped. We were all amazed. The coach looked at him. "Car!". He said. A car came from the ceiling and Larry caught it. Wow, all you could probably see in my eyes is wonder. I was so amazed.
I was amazed, I hope my power that's good. "Big Larry, hero". Coach said with pride in his voice. "So he's good but I'm better", Zach said. Yeah sure he is. A lot of confidence for this guy. He climbed onto the platform without being called on."Did I say you were next?", Coach asked him. I tried hiding my snicker behind my hand. This is great. "Names Zach coach boomer, try not to drop your clipboard", Zach said. I raised a eyebrow. Let's see where this'll go. He clapped his hands, and then he just stood there. Huh? What the heck? I raised an eyebrow, what is his power then? "Any day now superstar", Coach said annoyed. "I'm doin it", Zach said looking at the couch. Couch raised an eyebrow at him. "Doin What?", Coach asked. "I'm glowin", Zach said. I giggled. Oh like a glow warm, they only glow when it's in the dark. Well I guess that's cool I guess.
"I don't think so", Coach said, I laughed. I loved this. "Well it's easier to see in a dark room, maybe we can turn off these lights and cup your hands over your eyes and look real close....", Zach said trying to demonstrate. "Side kick", Coach said. Aww I felt bad for him. "Are you sure you don't want to just...", But Zach was cut off by coach's sonic boom voice "SIDEKICK!",
Okay ow, that really goes to the ears. I wouldn't be surprised if I go deaf by the time I get out of gym.
He then pointed to the other kid with the glasses. "You front and center!", Coach said loudly. (Ethan?) got onto the platform. "Let me start off by saying what an honor it is to.......", He said but was cut off. "Is that your power? Butt-kissery?", Coach asked. Okay I got to admit that was mean. "Very funny sir, I've heard you had a wicked sense of......", Ethan said but was cut off again. "Shut up and power up", Coach said. "Right away sir". Ethan said. He then turned into a puddle. I smiled huge, that is so cool! So when he's fighting enemies he can make them slip on him. That is so awesome! "Say that's pretty impressive, for a popsicle. Sidekick!", Coach said. Oh come on, give the boy a break. There were many sidekicks and less hero's. Which was a bummer. A guy had six arms, a girl could turn into a bouncy ball. A guy could spit on the a wall. For a second I thought it was regular spit but then it turned into acid. Wow he's going to have trouble kissing girls. Then another guy could transform into anyone. Which means he can shape shift. Awesome. He turned into coach.
Then it was the girl that had the purple pigtails. She got onto the platform. "what's your shtick?", Coach asked her. "I'm a shapeshifter", She said, but she said it as if it was boring. "Okay shift then", Coach said. She got to the ground and turned into a guinea pig. Awwww it's so cute! I want one now. "a guinea pig?", Coach asked. "Yep". Her tiny voice was so cute. "Not even a swarm of guinea pigs?", Coach asked her. "Uh no", She said. "Sidekick shoo", Coach mocked her tiny voice.
Then he point to Layla. Uh oh. We all know she doesn't like to use her powers unless she has to. "You flower child let's go", Coach said telling her to get on the platform. "Uh, I believe in only using my powers when the situation demands it", Layla said. She looked nervous. I should know cause I'm her best friend. "Well your in luck this is the situation and I'm demanding it", Coach said crossing his arms over his chest. "But to particulate in this test would be to support a flawed system, the whole hero-sidekick dichotomy only serves to......", She said trailing off. "Let me get this straight, are you refusing to show me your powers?", Coach asked. "It's more complicated then that", Layla said trying to show him her point of view. But I guess he didn't care. "Sidekick!", Coach yelled. The bell rang. Phew. Thank god.
"We'll pick it up right after lunch, starting with you two", Coach said pointing to us. Oh no. I gulped. I have my powers but will doesn't. This is why I never showed my powers to him. Because he doesn't have his. Okay, don't freak out, don't freak out, you can do this Allison. You are going to be okay.
