Allison's POV a few days later

It was study night. And we were hosting it at our house. Everyone was here, except for Warren. I tried inviting him. But he said he had to work. He didn't exactly tell me what he did for a living. But good for him. I should really get a job too.

We were all sitting on the couch. Doing our homework together. Talking about powers, heroes and killing zombies. Lovely. "If you kids are all in here, who's out there saving the world?", dad asked. I nearly jumped when I heard him. I didn't hear him come in. I could see Zach and Ethan smile in awe. "Dad!", I said happily as I hugged him. He wrapped an arm around me. "How was school, princess?", he asked me. I shrugged. "School was school", I said. He chuckled. "Dad. Why are you home so early?", Will asked nervously. "After I stopped the superdome from collapsing. I was watching the game and got to thinking, it's been awhile since will, Allie and myself tossed the the old pigskin around. So I thought I'd hustle home. But I see you and Allie have already made some new friends", dad said.

Ethan got up. "It's a honor to meet you, sir", Ethan said. Oh here we go. Dads going to ask what their powers are. "What's your name and what's your power?", dad asked. Yep, I groaned and shook my head. Here we go. "I'm Ethan, and I melt", he said. Oh great. I rolled my eyes and rested my head on my hand. This is not going to go well. "Ok", dad said trying not to be rude. But I could see it on his face. Then Zach got up. Oh god.

He slapped a hand in dads, shaking his hand. "Zach, I glow", he said. "I see", dad said. Oh god it was getting worse. Where is mom when you need her? Then magenta got up and shook hands with dad. "Magenta. And I shape-shift", she said. Please don't ask into what. Please don't ask. "Shape-Shift!", dad said excitedly. "Into a guinea pig", she said. Crap. I shook my head. Kill me now. He made that face again. "Great. Great. Great. Great! Really great", he said. He sounded like he didn't know what to do. Oh great. Why of all days, it had to be today?

"Well! I make a mean tuna fish salad sandwich, anyone want one?", dad asked. I knew I did. I love those sandwiches. "No, no, no", Zach said. I think he was intimidated by dad. Everyone was. I don't see why. Maybe it's because he's my dad. But eehhh. They'll warm up to him and he'll have to warm up to them. "Pleasure meeting everyone", dad said as he clapped his hands together. He walked out of the room. I followed after. When I walked into the kitchen, I could see him already making a sandwich. "I do hope your making me one", I said leaning against the wall. He chuckled. "You know I am sweetheart", he said. I shook my head.

"Nice way to meet our friends dad, I'm pretty sure you scared the living hell out of them", I said. And before he could say anything. Will came into the kitchen. He started to go through the refrigerator. "Ah, they're a good bunch of kids, will", dad said as he continued to make my sandwich. "Yeah", Will said trying to get out as fast as he could. But I knew better then that. "Can I ask you something, though?", dad asked him. Oh here we go. "Does that one kid really, you know, glow?", dad asked. I shook my head as I rested my hand on my head. I knew along the way of this conversation that Will was going to tell him that he was in hero support. Will came over with plates in his hands. "Sometimes", he said. He seemed like he really didn't want to talk about this. But knowing dad, he'll have to.

"Boy, they have really lowered the bar some for superheroes at that school since I went there", dad said. Uh oh. I saw Will turn around. "Well, actually, He's a sidekick", Will said. I bit my lip in nervousness. "Oh, well, that makes sense", dad said. "Yeah. Actually, they're all sidekicks", Will said. I watched as dad turned to look at Will in a little bit of surprise. "Good for you, son. Kid of your stature hangin' out with a bunch of sidekicks. As a freshmen? I didn't have the guts. And I can only imagine what your grandfather would have said if I'd brought some of them home", he said. He laughs at what he said. But to me, that was kinda mean, don't you think? I mean, they're still people. They're kids. What makes them any different then us? Just because we have different titles.

"You know, there's nothing wrong with being a sidekick, dad", Will said. You go little brother. Tell him. "Oh, no. Of course not. I used to have one. Saved my life once too. Old.......what's-his-name", dad said. Okay, that just makes it worse. And I think he was talking about Mr. boy. "So then you would be fine with........if I was a sidekick", Will said. I shook my head. And then there it was. I hope dad doesn't get in one of his moods. "Well, yeah, sure, I guess. Hey, hand me that mayonnaise there", dad said. I don't think he was really paying attention. I don't think he's catching on to what Will is trying to say. Will grabbed the mayonnaise that was right besides him and handed it to dad. "Well, that's good then, because........because I am one", Will said. My eyes widened. I gulped. I was waiting to see dads reaction.

"Am what?", dad asked. See? He wasn't paying attention. "A sidekick", Will said. Oh man this is going to get ugly and fast. "Who is?", dad asked turning to him. I bit my lip again. "Me, dad", Will said. Maybe I shouldn't be in the room for this. This seems like a them problem. "Dad, I'm a sidekick, okay? I washed out of Power placement", Will said trying to get through to dad. I saw a smile on dads lips slowly start to disappear. Oops. Oh here it comes. "Washed out!", dad yelled. A few of the glasses tipped over. I always hated when he got like this.

But then he got calm again. But I knew he wasn't calm. Far from it. "Boomer", was all he said. He turned towards the counter and hit it. Making the tile and everything on it fly into the air and back onto the counter. It made me Yelp. I hated when he got like this. It always scared me. Dad looked at me, he looked guilty that he scared me. "I'm sorry sweetie, how about you go study with your friends, okay?", he said. I nodded slowly. As much as I wanted to help will. It always scared me when dad got this way, and when he yells. So I just made my way back into the living room. I wanted to help Will, because I knew dad was going to yell. But I was powerless here. Dad was the man of the house.

I sat back down on the couch and started to go over my homework. Not wanting to pay attention to the eyes that were on me. But I did feel a hand on my shoulder. I turned my head and saw Layla. She smiled at me and gave me a apple. I smiled at her in thanks and grabbed the apple. I tried to ignore the yelling coming from the kitchen. But not too much longer, Will came back into the room. "Uh, so I, uh, think we pretty much covered the undead", Will said. He was trying to change the subject. Which was a good thing.

We started to go over our homework. Even though I had different homework then them. It was always nice to help them.
