Passing by the workers and pack members I ran straight into my father's study not bothering to knock.
"Scarlett, how many times have I told you not to barge in here?" My dad asked as he was sitting down and both Mason and mom were standing behind him.
"Sorry but there wasn't any time for such minuscule things. I need to know what that pack and us stand. I don't like them dad, and I was so close to shifting because their alpha kept being haughty!" I yelled as he gave me his famous stern look.
"Manners are always important Scarlett and before you cause any ruckus, we decided to let the pack stay."
Feeling as if I just got double slapped I lost it. "They're what?! How can you let them stay? We don't know anything about them! What if they want to kill us in our sleep? Then what!?"
"Scarlett you need to have more self control! As our daughter you need to understand that. So from now on don't start picking fights. With a new pack on our borders there's bound to be some hostility but that can be worked out with communicating with one another."
"Hostility never works out dad, you should know when you told that to me!" I yelled even louder and flapping my arms trying to make my point.
"Scarlett please listen to your father, no matter how much we do not approve we cannot make them leave. They lie on neutral territory so that means then have every right to stay."
"But they're rouges! How can rouges be given a bypass card so easily? What happened to not letting rouges take over?!" I yelled once more. How is it after so many years of educating me that rouges were evil manipulative very idiotic creatures who only want power to themselves. We cannot come peace with such beings like them!
"I agree!" Eliza added with me.
"That's it! I'm telling her dad!" My brother yelled who has been quiet through my whole rant.
"Don't, she's not ready." My dad said speaking as if I wasn't in the room. Their words not only calmed me but peeked a new curiosity.
"Honey, he's right. We should just tell her before she starts causing havoc." My mother added and my dad gave a final long sigh.
"Alright Scar you win, me educating you about rouges was not wrong. But these rouges are different. While you both were at school I got a call from the Silver Paws and told me how a pack a rouges just passed them. How they didn't do anything to them but pass through and outrun them all. They faxed me a photo of their Alpha and never I thought that our greatest foes would be living so close to us. Do you understand now Scar? These rouges aren't any regular rouges. They're monsters that I told you would kill anything in their sight and enjoy it. I cant even begin to say their names nor want to start something with them when we both mutually hate each other. That's why Scarlett you have to have better control yourself. Because they're the Nightshade."
My entire body froze.
My heart quickened and I almost lost the ability to breathe.
The Nightshade, the one pack I grew up to hate, despise and fear are within our pack. And not only that but I back talked so much I'm lucky their Alpha didn't kill me after everything I said to him.
"T-That's a lie, they're cant be that close to us can that? Dad?"
"Scarlett," he said, now standing and walking close to me. Grabbing my shoulders, he stared into my eyes. "Scarlett, they're here and we can't urge them to attack us. We need to put up with them no matter what. I also did some research and they travel from packs to packs finding a place to settle then they leave. They aren't the type to stay either so make sure you or your brother start anything. We can only fight when it's absolutely needed and if they're hurting our pack for unknown reasons. We can't fight everyone especially them. Remember, they're to far gone to be sane but they aren't rogues either. The Nightshade are strong but so are we."
Nodding my head I couldn't even speak when my packs safety had me on high alert.
"Dad, what about our pack? Are you going to tell them?"
"Of course, they also need to follow our new rules and now that they're here we need to inform other packs in case they leave as quick as they came. Hopefully they see that our territory isn't one for the likes of them."
"Now, go you two! Set up the pack meeting room and have everyone come tonight. I'll be going over our next procedures, we can't be unguarded. And don't wonder to far from the border line. Meeting starts at 7 sharp, don't be late." And with that, Mason and I left.
"You holding up okay?" Mason asked as we started going down the stairs reaching the meeting room.
"Yeah." I whispered, too many things are swirling in my head I began getting a headache.
"Scar, remember it's okay. I'll protect you along with our friends and pack members. I know how much they scared you after the stories dad told us. And I know your worried about how you told him off but if they haven't done anything and they won't. They know that we didn't know who they were and now that we do, will have to bare with them. Just breathe Scar, you're okay." He whispered in my ear, now realizing now that I was panting and almost out of breathe. Breathing in slowly, I regained my posture.
"Thank you." I said a little louder this time, sensing as he rubbed small circles on the middle of my back.
"Anything for my baby sister."
Snorting, we continued walking reaching the room we always use for pack meetings. Bringing back my old self, I said in my regular voice.
"Whatever you say baby Mason."
"Will be okay Scar, will be okay" Eliza mind linked me.
I sure hope so Eliza, I sure hope so.
