Can't Help Falling In love

Authors note- I'm probably only gonna spend half an hour on this so don't mind the shortness I'm working on a longer part at the moment

"Shut up Richie." Richie's best friend Eddie Kaspbrak grumbled. Richie had just said something making fun of Eddie's appearance, and Eddie was pissed. But like come on! He was just so easy to make fun of! With him being 5'0 at least while Richie was 5'6 already, and his hair that was always greased to perfection, not a single hair out of place. And his fanny packs.. Well his fashion was a whole other subject.

"Come on Eddie don't be like that!" Richie chortled. Their other friends rolled their eyes.

"If you guys are done flirting I'd like to jump now." Beverly said dryly.

The seven of them were at the Quarry, doing their usual debate of who would jump first. It was always Beverly.

"I- we-" For once Richie had lost his words. He had never even looked at Eddie like that. Sure, he thought he was cute, but it was the kinda cute that reminded him of puppies.... Right?

"We weren't-" Eddie's cheeks were red. Richie wasn't sure with embarrassment or anger, and didn't really want to find out.

"Sure you weren't." Beverly cut in.

"Well, see you suckers down there." With no further ado Beverly Marsh had jumped off the edge down to the water.

Bill had followed, with Ben close behind him. Stanley spent a few seconds looking after Bill worriedly, but jumped after he had resurfaced.

"You guys kind of really were." Mike grinned and jumped.

"We'll see you on the flip side Edward." Richie plummeted down the cliff and landed safely in the water. The water was cool that summer, and pleasant.

He took a deep breath as he resurfaced and glanced up. Richie was pretty sure he heard Eddie mumble something along the lines of 'dickhead' before he landed in the water next to him.

"Took you long enough." Richie teased.

"Haha, funny." Eddie said sarcastically, and splashed him. Beverly grinned and splashed at Ben. Soon enough they were all engaged in their own separate little battles, Stan and Bill were splashing each other and yelling while Bev and Ben teamed up against Mike. Richie's attention was focused on this short boy who was splashing water at him like it was nobody's business. Not once did he complain about the germs or even stop for longer than to spit water out of his mouth. Eventually Richie had to surrender when he started to drown.

"Ok, ok you win." Richie held up his hands in defeat while slightly choking on the dirty water.

"That's what I thought." Eddie grinned triumphantly.

They both suddenly realised how quiet it was, and turned to see the other Loser's sitting on the bank, watching them with amused expressions on their faces.

"Hurry up lovebirds, we're playing truth or dare!" Stanley called at them. They both flushed at the word lovebirds, and swam towards their friends.

Richie wished they would stop calling him and Eddie lovebirds.... But at the same time he liked it. Maybe he liked it when Eddie got mad at him teasing him and how cute he looked when he ran his fingers through his soft brown hair and.... Wait. Did Richie LIKE like Eddie?

"Shit." He whispered under his breath. He wasn't shocked that he liked a boy, something inside of him had known he was gay. He was shocked that out of all the people it was the one and only Eddie spaghetti.

Eddie glanced over at him curiously. Richie just gave him a non-committal shrug, and by then they had reached the shore.

"Who's starting this little fun-fest?" Richie asked, rubbing his hands together in anticipation. No matter what, they could never know who he liked.
