Not me writing fan fiction in class. Also like they're 22-ish idk. Also I got inspiration from this one called "It's a Match" and it's in one called kisses so make sure to check that one out it's great.
Listen, Eddie was fine. Completely and totally fine. Nothing was wrong. He was totally fine being single for the rest of his life, it's just... his best friend didn't believe him.
"Eddie you have to give it a try." His best friend Bill had had a stutter when they were younger, but went to speech therapy for years to fix it. At the moment he was trying to convince Eddie to let him and his girlfriend Audra set him up.
"Who even is this guy? I don't wanna meet up with somebody I don't know." Eddie was just trying to watch his nightly Netflix, but instead was getting bombarded with pleas from Bill.
"He's our age. Audra's friend of a friend Beverly, I think her name was, has a friend and he's gay. And single. Just like you."
"So now you're setting me up with somebody who's gay as well, like those kids in middle school. Bill, really I don't want to meet somebody new." Eddie was getting exasperated with his friend.
"Just give him a try Eddie. If it doesn't work out nobody is saying you have to date him. I just want you to be happy." Bill pulled his puppy dog eyes on Eddie, but they haven't worked since elementary school.
"Aren't you meant to be with Audra right now?" Eddie asked him.
"No..." Bill said slowly.
"Really? Because she told me was excited for your date tonight." Eddie pretended to check the time. "You'd better hurry, your gonna be late to pick her up."
Bill looked confused, but ran out the door picking up his keys nonetheless. "We will talk about this Eddie." He said quickly.
"Mmhm. Sure. Bye Bill."
Eddie didnt want a relationship. He was fine living with his best friend, even though he had sarted talking about living with Audra. Eddie knew he wouldnt move out until Eddie was ready, and he wouldnt be ready anytime soon. It sounded selfish, but it was the truth.
"Now, where were we?" He asked the TV.
"Eddie. Eddie."
He realised he had fallen asleep on the couch watching his show, and Bill had returned.
"Hi. So, turns out Audra and I didn't have anything planned, and it's time for you to decide."
His eyes were stuck together with sleep, and he was exhausted.
"Sure, whatever just go away Bill." Eddie grumbled.
"Yes! You won't regret this Eddie I promise." He almost skipped up the stairs into his bedroom, most likely to text Audra.
Eddie rolled over and groaned, unsure what he had just agreed to.
When he woke in the morning he had a huge pain in his neck, and he got angry at himself for falling asleep on the couch.
"Audra's friend said he isn't busy today, so you'd best get ready if you wanna make a good impression."
"Bill, too early. Let me shower first."
True to his words, Eddie had showered, eaten, combed his hair and brushed his teeth as an afterthought before he allowed Bill to bring it up again.
"Who said I wanna make a good impression on this guy? I don't even know him." Eddie said, disgruntled.
"Well he's heard all about you from Audra."
"Audra's met him?"
"Yes, she wouldn't let you go on a date with some rando." Bill laughed.
"And...?"
"She said he's perfect for you. Nothing else."
"You aren't worried about this? At all?" Eddie was confused. He could barely remember to even agreeing to meet this guy.
"Nope. I know for a fact that you'll hit it off, and I'll be the best man at your wedding."
Eddie snorted. "Sure Bill, sure. When did he say to meet him?"
Bill checked the time. "Right now. Okay we're running now, we've gotta go." Bill hurried out the door, and Eddie followed.
It was a quiet car trip, for one Bill was grinning at Eddie, glad to have even got him in the car, and Eddie was being eaten alive from the inside by nerves.
"Where are we meeting this guy?" Eddie asked Bill to distract himself.
"We?" Bill grinned smugly.
"Bill what the fuck! For God's sake, I'm not meeting this random guy alone!" Eddie burst out.
"You need to get out there and meet people Eddie." Bill said gently.
"What do you think I'm doing?" Eddie grumbled.
"Whining." Bill answered simply.
Eddie didn't want to meet this guy. He had had more than his fair share of experiences with dicky guys, and wasn't eager for another. He would trust Bill with his life, just not his dates.
"I'll be back to pick you up in a few hours, but text me if you need me sooner. I am not coming back unless it's an emergency. Good luck! Bye Eddie."
Eddie got out of the car without thinking, but once he turned back to ask what the guys name even was Bill had driven away.
"Eddie Kaspbrak?" A mans voice asked.
He turned around to see a guy around his age. He had curly black hair, reaching a stop around his jaw and glasses that made his eyes look huge but added to the charm of his brown eyes.
"Hello?" Eddie asked him, secretly hoping this was the guy he was meeting.
"Richie Tozier." He curtseyed. Eddie wasn't sure if he was being ironic or not.
In all honestly, he thought that Richie was attractive. But appearances mean nothing if he turned out to be a huge jerk.
Eddie held his hand out for a hand shake. Richie knocked it out of the way and hugged Eddie. He froze, not sure how to respond.
"Well it is simply enchantin' to meet ya darlin'." Richie said in a horrible southern drawl.
"Yeah. Should we go inside?" Eddie gestured to the coffee shop behind them.
"We aren't getting coffee. Come on, I found something cool." Richie turned and hurried down the street, obviously expecting Eddie to follow him.
