Chapter 39: Spirit Animal

I groaned, opening my eyes slightly. The ceiling lights pierced my eyes more which brought another groan on my lips.

"Take it easy there babe." I heard Roman say but my eyes were glued shut. I felt like I had been hit by a train. Yes, a train. A car would be putting it very lightly. My whole body felt broken, on fire, exhausted, limp, and my head oh many my head was pounding. My senses were heightened and I felt dizzy which was weird considering I was already laying down with eyes closed.

"What happened?" My voice sounded just above a whisper.

"I'm not sure I know how to explain it." Roman was conversing in my head now.

"It's okay babe. I was asking because I feel like I've been hit by a train."

I heard him chuckle. "No you didn't get hit by a train but how should I put this... your body went through some changes yesterday."

"Yesterday? Your telling me I've been knocked out for a whole day?"

"Yeah, you knocked out right after you destroyed the Trolls. But I'm not sure if I can explain to you what actually happened but it was badass."

"Can anyone explain it?"

"Yeah, Mrs. Clabourg but you should rest another day before you have anyone else talk to you babe. I'm only able to talk to you because of our link."

"Okay." I said before our link broke and I felt him kiss my cheek and leave the room. I felt my mind disappear into a dream.

I saw the woods in colorful in hues of neon greens, browns, yellows, and red. Which wasn't normal. They were the same woods I had stepped to a thousand times but covered in snow. The smell of bark made all my senses light up. I looked around me and I ran and ran far into the woods. I felt free.

I finally stopped before a castle with gray stone exterior and blue flags raised above the towers. "Luna." I heard a woman's voice called my name. "Luna, come." She said it again. I turned my head and followed the voice which was at the far left, straight across a lake that was glistening crystals.

Once I got to the clearing I saw a woman dressed in a white see through chiffon dress wrapped all in white ribbons look at me and smile. She came up to me and took her face in my hands. "Happy Birthday sweetheart." She whispered kissing my forehead.

I woke up confused, remembering my dream.

"Hey babe." I turned to Roman who had a huge smile on his face. "Your finally awake."

I stretched up and I felt like my whole body was awaken. I felt shinny new.  I smiled brightly to Roman. "It feels so good to be awake."

"We're glad your okay." Mrs. C said, standing by the door. 

I turned my head, noticing everyone behind her. My head turned to the side in curiosity.

"What's happening?" I said slowly.

"Well we have a surprise for you tonight."

"A surprise? Guys, no." I said realizing what today was.

"Oh yes, you saved us so now we have to celebrate you." Roman said cheerfully.

"Yes, a celebration is in order." Mrs. C chimed. I heard cheers coming from the hallways. It was like they hadn't celebrated anything for a while. "But first, can I speak with Luna, alone." She said pointedly to Roman.

He smiled and looked at me. "Don't freak." Roman said through our link.

I raised an eyebrow at him but he just smiled more, walking out the door.
